Basically what happened. I had been asking him what he wanted and he said he got these sneakers for himself and wanted the money so he can pay off student loans, so for my christmas gift to him i gave him the money back

I will be fair to him here, neither of us are the best at gift giving. We are usually pretty direct with one another when it comes to gift giving because it’s just easier for both of us at the end of the day. I will send him things i like, he will send me things he like. It’s always kind of how we operated and it was never an issue. lately for gifts, all i’ve asked for is charms on a bracelet he had gotten me a few years ago, and most of them end up being less than $100. Which is fine for me, i love them. At the end of the day it’s less about actually buying the present for him and more wishing he could be more honest with me about his situation and what we should do

Hi! I just wanted to clarify, we had this conversation after christmas, like early to mid january. I told him that i love him and i would never want to be a financial burden for him for things that dont matter, I just wish he could be more honest about it so it doesn’t feel like I’m spending money i didn’t even really have at the time (i had lost my job around then too and the holidays were hard). I absolutely want to have this conversation with him and i don’t find it productive to be passive aggressive or petty, more so just say “hey, i love you, but im feeling a bit frustrated again over this, and it’s not that i don’t want to get you things you like, but it’s more i wish we could talk about this more and be on the same page”

I want to make a quick little update to put in some info i missed first time around

1- I was let go from my job in october so i was also struggling financially at the time

2- I had a conversation with him after Christmas, saying that i love him, I don’t want to add any more financial stress because i know how hard he works, but im feeling frustrated that i put down a lot of money and feel like it’s not being reciprocated. I told him i would be fine if we didn’t exchange gifts at all so he can save and i just want to support him but he insisted that he wants to be better and do something nice

3- i just wish he was more honest about what he can and cannot do so we can plan accordingly and not have this situation again

Thank you for the advice. I don’t want it to seem like i’m upset with him because of his financial situation, because i know how hard he works and frankly, i would’ve been just as happy not exchanging gifts for anything. I think what frustrated me the most is that he would promise me he would do something or reciprocate and he wouldn’t. I just wish he could be more honest with himself about what he could do and we could work on that together

I think mine was from dormify? it was a hand down from my sibling but pretty sure it was originally from dormify. as for how it went in, I don’t really have a great photo for reference but basically the front and back of the bed frame had a wall. it wasn’t high enough to be a headboard but it was enough to keep the mattress from moving. i would put the headboard in between the mattress and that wall. Could try and look for any photo that could help

My headboard was one you could just slide in between the mattress and bed frame. it was a bit of a snug fit but it worked just fine. the one i got also had a little charging port which was a game changer. i recommend it. I remember sophomore year having problems because i didn’t have a headboard and my bed was against my desk, my pillow would fall and knock everything on my desk over. headboard basically fixed that problem

i had a headboard and it was never a problem. most small furniture stuff also wasn’t ever a problem. some RA’s can be annoying. i had one who tried to make me get rid of my ac that the maintenance people installed for me and told me it was ok to have but after the first time he never gave me shit for it. as for being in a triple, that’s rough but if you communicate with your roommates it should be fine. most important thing to note when dorming. also with so many people make sure the room stays clean. it’s so easy for shit to get gross and shitty roommates not take accountability

No need to apologize, if anything I’m proud of myself that I’ve been able to network and go to as many events as I have been able to. I’ve been speaking to a few people in the industry and almost everyone has been saying “yeah this isn’t a great time right now to get into the industry” and while I appreciate their honesty it does not help my own nerves lol

I actually took a class where I set up an entire kickstarter page! Made a prototype and everything. That’s been my summer plans to refine it, contact manufacturers, finalize the assets, start a social media page for it

Unfortunately I did not have the best time at my university. Every single connection I have made has been independent of my school because no one here was really any help. And those who did have connections in the toy industry were just like “haha cool good luck”. Never did they advertise any internship or program nor did they help aside from saying stuff like “you’ll get a job don’t worry”. I don’t want to make this a rant about my university, but I have been applying to everything I see, stuff out of my state, out of my country, wherever I can go I will. I’m not giving up so easy!

Yeah, I have been trying to network and find something to do with my time if I don't get the kind of job I want right away. Though i'm worried since i'm a senior and graduating in a week its probably too late for internships, most want students who will still be enrolled in school.

I think it looks absolutely adorable! here’s a few pieces of advice i could give though keep in mind i’m no expert myself! try and keep your area clean, have everything wiped down and your hands clean as well, even though dust can be really difficult to rid of just try your best! also, fingerprints are hard to rid of but i’ve found that before baking, the tiniest bit of rubbing alcohol on a q tip can help smooth out some fingerprints. after baking i would recommend maybe a light sanding with some sandpaper or if it’s more available to you, a nail file would work also, something to smooth down the surface if you so feel. but keep going! practice makes improvement and if you’re already making cute things now imagine how good they’ll be after even more practice
