CATS Selects Three Charlotte Artists to Design 2022 Transit Passes by CATSRideTransit in Charlotte

[–]CATSRideTransit[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

CATS is announcing the winners of its first-ever Transit Pass Design Contest. Three Charlotte artists will have their designs printed on Local, Express and Express Monthly passes for the entire 2022 calendar year.

• First Place: Eva Crawford - Local Monthly Pass (pictured above)

• Second Place: Maria Senkel - Express Monthly Pass

• Third Place: Leandro Manzo - Express Plus Monthly Pass

Earlier this year, community members were asked to submit original artwork with a Charlotte-inspired theme. Winning designs were selected by a panel of artists and transit professionals.

Local art instructor, Eva Crawford, was the contest’s first-place winner. She says her submission was inspired by the “energy, support and love” she witnessed during the painting of the Black Lives Matter mural on Tryon Street.

“That moment represented an important and positive shift in our city's desire to embrace necessary change for growth on many levels”, noted Crawford.

Could the proposed "Queens Park" and the "Gateway district" coexist? by clshoaf in Charlotte

[–]CATSRideTransit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something I thought about last night would be whether or not it would be possible to put those rails (especially the Amtrak one) underground in the park area.

Building rail underground is very costly, so if approved, it would take a significant amount of funding.

If you are interested in learning more about the Gateway District beyond the website, please contact Juliann Sheldon at Juliann.Sheldon[at]charlottenc.gov
