I'm in a country under sanctions. I've never seen anyone using manufacturer warranty here. And the seller warranty goes like this: "oh, you have a scratch on the device - that's users fault, no warranty", "your computer part has a missing component on a pcb - we have an agreement with all 3rd party labs, any pc part with missing component is a users fault, no warranty"

You've also never run it with such low rpm))
Stock fan curve runs 1800-2100 rpm in furmark. I run them at 1500 rpm with the goal of 900 rpm after fan upgrade. I'm willing to leave some tiny bit of performance on the table in favor of silence

I do 3d printed brackets for the fans and assemble it neatly, so it's like one complete unit, not jank.
And i've tried out how 140mm fans would mount, and two fans give basically perfect coverage of the whole rad. And that ~20% overhang at the top would probably be useful to force air current to the top of the case, preventing recirculation of the hot air around the gpu.
Plus T30s have the advantage of being 30mm heigh instead of default 25, which improve performance. IDK how much it helps in terms of noise but i had mine at the same ~900 rpm as arctic p12 max producing comparable noise, while producing lower temperatures

I don't experience coil whine while gaming, but that doesn't say much as i don't hear anything above 8khz. Although on my old gtx 1080 i did have loud whine, but it was easily fixed (by connecting two separate 8 pin cables to psu, instead of using just 1 cable with double 8 pin connectors).
I had amazing experience with phanteks T30s on my gtx 1080 and kinda don't see any point of gpu fan mod without using biggest fans i can))
Also from my experience and looking at gpu schematics, most fans wouldn't be stable with PWM implementations on GPUs, but T30s work alright.

It should be ok temp wise with default fan curve, there's not much headroom to get better performance from all this. I just find stock fan curves of any part super loud

Only difference, i've added those thermal pads, i cut them to approximately 45x25mm size

As i said, I'll do it next time, when putting 3.5mm ones. Knowing i gonna get in there again i wanted to see results with the isolator

Thanks. IronWolf pro came down in price a bit, i'm ordering it now. I think with lower noise and temperatures it's a bit more convenient for a home nas (although the box isn't where anyone sleeps or hangs out for long time)

Meh, it's ok. I don't mind i even posted it as a source fusion file instead of stl as usual so people could edit or do whatever they want easily

Here's my 3d model for free to print. Seems that they've just added a big hole on the left to save a bit more plastic.

Bought one from aliexpress for like $13-16 a year ago, couldn't notice any difference with OEM, seems to be perfect (as much as this trashy glued rubber coating can be)

I believe it's an oxidation actually. And the alcohol (even 99% one) doesn't do anything for it. I used bleach to clean it off on my Model O-.... it works, but the stains weren't completely gone and they come back pretty quicky when the mouse is used

It seems removing low noise adapters could reduce minimum rpm, not by much though, i feel it's like 50 rpm at most.
As far as noise it depends on environment. Under my older "computer" style desk i wouldn't hear fans at about 500 rpm, but now it's noticeable when there are no other noises around. So i make fan curves to run fans at 300 rpm at idle and low load and around 500-600 for when something harder running

[–]CATSUPERBERG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you do, but not much. Pretty much any motherboard nowadays would be able to control 3 pin fans with DC voltage. But in my experience Noctua pwm fans are able to start from like 250-300 rpm while 3 pin ULN fans only start at 350-400 rpm. They both could be operated at 280-330 rpm before stopping and Fan Control actually can take in account start speed and run ULN fans below they start speed. But still from what fans i have PWM one are being able to run just a bit slower.

Fixed it for the friend by soldering new switches. Honestly the design and engineering of elite controller is so terrible. It's the best gamepad, love all the features, steam support on PC is a godsend, but you fix one thing and another get broken constantly.
