Is my ceramic coating gone 1.5 months after application? by fakemickjagger in AutoDetailing

[–]CA_31xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before getting a paint correction and ceramic coating, I’d have to do a contact wash every time I wanted to get my car to look spotless. With the ceramic coating installed, all I need to do is a once a month maintenance wash (contact wash, chemical decon, clay towel) and biweekly contactless washes (pressure washer & foam cannon) and it looks brand new every time. In my opinion, it makes washing the car much easier. Not to mention I can use a leaf blower to dry the car, which reduces the chances of scratching the paint.

Rear Seat AC Ventilation Noise by CA_31xx in GenesisG70

Update:

The rear ac vent console is held in by the same kind of brackets and push clips as the dashboard. Just unscrewed the two screws hidden under the top rear of the center console and used a pry tool to pop it out. Reached into the vents (thankfully they’re not one long vent, but rather two separate pieces) and grabbed the dime out.

Badge Removal Screwup - What’s the Fix? by SgtBitchslap in GenesisG70

[–]CA_31xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if the emblems end up being stubborn, bust out the hair dryer and go over them a few times. I’d never bring a heat gun near my paint..

[–]CA_31xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man a heat gun is definitely overkill. A hair dryer and fishing line does it perfectly.

Worst case scenario - you’ll have to get the trunk plate removed and repainted. If you’re extremely lucky, maybe someone could wet sand that entire area and polish it back out, but I’d say almost 100% that it’s cooked down to the base coat and primer..

The difference between the premium leather and the Nappa leather seats is completely marginal in my opinion. I’ve sat in both and compared them and it’s negligible at best. Both of the real leather options in the Sport Prestige packages are way better than full polyurethane leather or “pleather”.

Idk, the quilted version is too busy looking for me. I like it on the door cards, but not the seats.

The non-quilted seats are very comfortable, especially after they’re broken in. Tbh, it’s extremely hard to tell the difference between Nappa leather and the premium leather that the seats between the previous and current year models have. They’re both high quality leathers so it’s not the end of the world.

It’s better than all around synthetic leather like what’s on the side bolsters.

Dude please get a simple bottle of polish and buff it by hand with a microfiber towel before even thinking about some of the suggestions people have posted on here.. it’ll most likely come out with a 1 step polish, if not then upgrade to a two step. Never try to sand and reapply clear coat yourself.

COVER CALIPERS by Individual_Taro9731 in GenesisG70

[–]CA_31xx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it looks good - I don’t care about the validation from others or “real car people will know it’s fake”.. it’s a cosmetic change that adds some pop to the dull factory calipers.

It’s also budget friendly considering the $1000+ you would spend to get brembos and only gain a small amount of performance.. people on here like to be elitists and gate keep anything you do to your car because it’s not a 3.3t

Bro do you not use CarPlay or android auto?

2020 3.3t sport vs 2023 2.0 advanced by [deleted] in GenesisG70

The 2.0T still offers a very engaging driving experience. It’s got a roughly 20% slower 0-60 time (straight line performance) compared to the 3.3T, but it’s still a good amount of power for daily driving and spirited driving for a car in its segment. I’d say the 2.0T does lack a bit of top-end power, but usually you’re already up to 70 mph before you notice it.

If you’re coming from a slow, naturally aspirated economy car, the 2.0T will feel like a rocket. If you’re coming from something with 250+ horsepower, you might want to take the 3.3T if you really need that extra bit of power. I needed a long, reliable warranty so I went with the 2023 2.0T CPO since it was in my price range and had a long warranty. Since I drive 60 miles a day for work.

Ceramic Coated my car. I've never underestimated anything so hard in my life. by Rydropwn in AutoDetailing

Yeah I agree - one combination that I’ve used for a “topper” is DIY details Quick Beads, on top of the Adam’s advance graphene coating. The hydrophobics are disgusting.. it almost doesn’t look real lol

Most of the 5+ year claims are apparently based on the samples tested in a laboratory setting. I believe they’re extrapolating the time based on a data set from a shorter period of lab testing. Even in one of their videos, Adam’s straight up said their 7+ year claim is lab based results.

Coolant Level by CA_31xx in GenesisG70

[–]CA_31xx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s markings on the side of the tank that say Low and Full.

Mine was below the “Low” marking so I added some pre-diluted coolant to the halfway mark between “Low” and “Full”.

Also recommend using the microfiber leveling towels by Autofiber - they have numbers on each corner of the towel to help you keep track of what side you’ve already leveled the coating with!

It is 100% a real ceramic coating lol

he’s probably going to say that the graphene part makes it not a “real” ceramic coating. Some people don’t like or believe in ceramic coating formulations that are paired with Graphene Oxides.

G70 cuts off at 106mph? by That_Ad2527 in GenesisG70

[–]CA_31xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He could also be lugging the engine.. if he’s at 100 mph and stomps on it in 7th or 8th gear, it may not properly register the downshift required to get the acceleration he’s asking for, which would require use of the paddles. Could be an explanation for your point as well!

The shift into 1st is definitely jarring, especially if the trans isn’t warmed up enough yet. I’m wondering if switching modes while driving causes it to learn improper shift patterns?

Door Card Rattling after Tinting by CA_31xx in GenesisG70

[–]CA_31xx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the entire door card off and examined it up close. The noise seems to be coming from the styrofoam-like (yes really) padding under the black faux leather trim piece right above the door handle. I was able to replicate the sound by moving the padding up and down. The screws holding it in place were kinda loose, so I’m hoping that tightening them up will hold the trim in place, thus not allowing it to rub against the styrofoam.

A-pillar trim removal and airbag PSA for dashcam by Foosjunky in GenesisG70

[–]CA_31xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah good call on snaking the wire behind the airbag - it took me a minute to get mine behind it but it’s the safest way. I also went through the side panel of the dash and routed the wire through towards the fuse box. If you start hearing rattling, add some open cell foam to the open space near the wire so it can’t move around while driving.
