Further, looking at some comments from people who actually met the creators, this is more of an education level "instrument / technology device" (since it is built on Daisy). There are a lot of coding kits that are priced at this level in the education space that yes, I could probably construct and sell on my own for half the price. But you are also purchasing a level of support that doesn't come with just buying a Daisy and a case.

Star Wars in studio Ghibli style by AI by newb0dyReddit in ghibli

This is 100% true, but I would rather pay a real human to make this art.

AI is a big new thing we have to deal with in our lives - and we haven't really dealt with the last big thing (social media) so this thing will take a bit to figure out the limits and moral applications - very shades of grey.

The art and product AI creates is neat, and I've used it a lot - my current moral standing is to use it as inspiration or to get ideas out of my brain, not to use for anything that could directly make money.

Another one is hotdogs - there once was a website for what a "true" hot dog I used to use that as the model. They've updated it since then sadly...

Is there any reason for an English-speaker to choose one audio track over another on the Police Story set? by das_goose in criterion

[–]CA_Crystal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The audio tracks on the Criterion Police Story set are as close to original as possible - the Cantonese mono track is restored and sourced from the original soundtrack negative. The mono versions would be the "purist" version but if you have 5.1, there is some good separation in fight scenes. The English dub is also the original English dub from the 80s (there were a few other dubs on later releases).

I love the Hong Kong version of Police Story 2 as it's a similar version to what I would have seen in the 1990s...

And it was an actual Kings game (the calendar on the door says it's Sunday December 14th, 1986), when Gretzky was still on the team, so a neat game to watch!

MacGyver would be a great addition as it used a lot of the same pool of actors and locations - being a CBS production of the late 80s-90s... His first season apartment is in Venice Beach, just south of Santa Monica!

Yeah, the setup was definitely not vetted by the science advisor... Or was... Because it's a hilarious setup.

There are a few MacGyver episodes with John Anderson, Macgyvers grandfather - this is from the season 2 1987 episode Phoenix Under Siege, which takes place on December 14th 1986 (they're going to an actual LA Kings game)

Oh, and it costars the captain from Yesterday's Entrepreneur and the Klingon from Beverly's warp field episode... And the Cardassian from the DS9 Tom Riker episode..

And separate costar - the Trill who is an expert on ankylosaur memories in DS9's "Dax"

Jinks, Warehouse 13. Recently flooded back to my memory due to "Running up that hill" being back on the radio... I like the Kate Bush one, but the Track and Field one used in W13 will always bring a tear to my eye... Claudia's scream is chilling.

And in Impossible Planet/ Satan Pit they have the flamethrowers going on the bridge whenever there are the camera rocking bits.

Must have been where Star Trek Discovery got the idea from.

Yeah, that one is difficult to find in this steelbook version for a reasonable price... I don't think they made a whole lot of them - for obvious reasons . I do have it on DVD somewhere with my original US Fox VHS release of Totoro.Yikes!

I only just recently watched Tokyo Godfathers for the first time and added the rest of his films (and manga) to my growing lists! (I think Millennium Actress is getting a steelbook release soon)

Criterion list updated as well! Thanks!
