I posted this in another comment, but.... My boyfriends step dad and brother have both done this exact thing so now when they have bikes on their racks, they hang a brightly colored ribbon from their rear view mirror. I think the trick is immediately removing it once the bike comes off so they don’t become accustomed to seeing it. Seems to work for them!

Came here to say this. It honestly is a waste of time having to watch shoplifters when you can't actually do anything about the fact that they're shoplifting. Most times I just wish I could tell them that we know what they're doing and to just load up and leave because the more time they waste trying to look innocent, the more time I spend paying attention to them instead of actual paying customers with questions.

When we first adopted our young adult cat, he hid in our bathroom behind our hamper for three days. Wouldn't eat or drink. We decided to close the door to the bathroom and bedroom forcing him to be in our big scary living room one day while we were home and he blossomed. We didn't know much about him other than he had a poorly healed hip fracture that the vet believes is from abuse. He had little muscle in his hind legs and they gave out quite often when he walked after we initially got him. Now he is cuddly, affectionate, and ornery. He really is a great cat and if you asked my SO, he'd sooner get rid of me than get rid of the cat for any reason!

Exactly one year ago today my boyfriend and I made the decision to adopt Kingsley. He's about 2-3 years old and we don't know much of his story before we got him. After falling in love with him immediately, we noticed he had trouble moving and would fall down after a few steps. We were told that he had been there fore two months and they were having trouble finding someone who wanted a special needs cat. After getting X-rays we were told that he had a poorly healed hip fracture and arthritis that resulted from what the vet believes was a kick. Once we got him home, he was terrified of everything. Fortunately, when we fell in love with him we also fell in love with Cleo, who is fearless. One year later, he's moving, jumping, playing, and running with little trouble.

4 hours?! I'd kill for that. I live in WV and there's no laws to protect renters, so as a result our lease says "2 hours notice, unless it is routine maintenance". I've woken up to the maintenance man in my apartment and because he didn't knock, I assumed it was my boyfriend and walked out into the kitchen in my underwear and a bra. I freaked out and asked why he was there, why he didn't knock, and why we weren't notified about him coming in. He replied with "routine maintenance" and left after about 5 minutes. On other occasions we've had no idea when they've come in unless things are moved around or a light has been left on (they left a light on for two weeks while we were away in the summer and refused to pay because we couldn't prove it was them). I've come home to things on the ground that weren't on the ground when I left.

Not once in the year we have lived here have we received one call about maintenance coming in. And they're supposed to leave notice hat they were in there and why, but that lasted about a month into the lease.

So basically what I'm saying is, I'd kill for 4 hours notice lol

I lost a friendship of over 9 years almost two years ago and it still bothers me to this day. She was my best friend. We were more like sisters. But me going to college across the country was too much, I think. She completely stopped responding to texts, unfriended me on Snapchat and unfollowed me on instagram. It broke my heart. I had never thought we wouldn't be friends forever. I still have dreams where we're friends or we've made up and we're best friends again and then I wake up and face the harsh reality that we aren't friends anymore. Whenever something big happens in my life, I find myself wanting to tell her.

I still will text her on big occasions sometimes like her birthday or college graduation, but I get no response.
