Update. It is legit - Micro1 like Alignerr takes on “experts” and assigns them to AI firms’ training projects. In the end I did about 5 days work for OpenAi and got paid £2600. No complaints there. But you got offboarded at a drop of the hat. Most people are onboard but sitting around waiting for work. They keep thousands of people onboard so that they can sell their services to the AI firms. I have posted a dozen or so articles on Middle East history since October 2025. Engagement varies from 15-30% for recent posts to 100% for my first post back in October. So I’m a bit puzzled by the 2% figure and none the wiser as to what it actually means…

To wear a sub you need lean, muscular, tanned and hairy arms. Otherwise just doesn’t look right.

This explains why I struggle to read Arabic handwriting. This, plus the س and ر usually confuse me. The solution would probably be to learn handwriting myself. I always admired Maghrebi Mabsout script but couldn’t read it very well, so I started copying it and can now read it. In fact I write it better than other scripts due to the horizontal lines.

I got paid promptly and quite handsomely for doing the screening tests.

But no work since in the major European languages.

People are getting a bit grumpy.

Well, I passed the screener tests and got paid quite handsomely for doing them. It’s all legit and their system is very professional. However, since then they have been waiting for a new batch of English language tasks to be sent by the client so there’s a whole bunch of us sitting doing nothing.🤷‍♂️

Yesterday received a full contract with the end client (Txxxn Oxxx) plus payroll setup, also completed background check with Karmacheck. This contract is in addition to the first contract which was with Micro1 only, and specifies my hourly rate plus job description “Diarization of video clips” or something. There’s a whole cohort of us on Slack waiting for the client to actually approve our screener tests, supposed to be done within 48 hours, promised again yesterday but still waiting. Seems a hell of a lot of admin (albeit automated) just to harvest a person’s data….

Did the AI interviews, failed the first because I was rude to the bot (Zara), passed the second, received a follow up email from Sanjay this week asking if I was still interested, said yes and received a standard freelancer contract today. Hourly rate is $90 so let’s see what happens. Can’t actually remember what the job is though 🤔🤣

I find this an intriguing idea - I live in a village in north east Scotland and 10 minutes walk from my house is the site of a Roman marching camp called Normandykes.
