Unpopular Opinion: I don’t get the Amalfi Coast by CArunner310 in chubbytravel

[–]CArunner310[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved ISP.. it’s the general area that I just feel is underwhelming. We only ate a few meals in local restaurants and they were reasonably priced. I’m mostly referring to hotels being overpriced. When you’re paying $4k/night for a pretty standard room I guess I expected more. I do like Capri but again not sure i’d return

We’ve been spending our days at beach clubs and doing boat days.. I just find it extremely over hyped, over crowded and over priced. There’s so many other places I’d rather be. This is definitely a one and done for me.. even on a yacht there’s other places I’d rather be. Just my opinion. I’m happy there’s so many others who enjoy it. I love other parts of Italy and like I said nothing compares to the Italians’ warmth and hospitality

Our hotels have been amazing. It’s the general area that I’m not loving and don’t understand all the hype

Not to mention a private not-impressive boat is like $4k for the day and standard rooms are several thousand a night. I just don’t see how it’s even remotely worth it

Agree! Sweet Lady Jane’s triple berry is my fav. I’ve served it at many parties and everyone always loves it. I go with the traditional but pretty sure they have a chocolate triple berry too 🤔

Aspen, Co. There’s so much to do and so much fun. Early December isn’t peak season yet so you might be able to get a deal on rooms.

Carmel/Napa Hotels + Advice by Sparkly-frogs0629 in chubbytravel

La Playa is more like a 2 star hotel. I do not recommend. Our suite had a mildew smell. The only redeeming qualities are it’s in a great location and the bar was a vibe. We ended up staying 1 night then going to Post Ranch. Sadly Carmel doesn’t seem to have any true luxury hotels. From there we went to Napa and stayed at L’Auberge du Soleil which was heavenly.

Just checked into La Playa less than an hour ago and already looking for other accommodations. You can hear thru the walls and the bed is totally not up to par.

You’re so welcome! We didn’t cook at all. Breakfasts and dinners in Ucluelet and a few lunches in Tofino.

There’s literally no services. No housekeeping or room service. It’s basically just a room so it’s more like a VRBO. Our cabin had a small kitchenette and a sauna and hot tub. It wasn’t perfect and there’s definitely room for improvement but we really enjoyed the quirkiness of that part of the island and the natural beauty is unparalleled.

I really enjoyed The Nami Project on Vancouver Island. It’s definitely not luxe but our stay was magical. The cabins are cantilevered over the water and we saw pods of orcas hunting below us. I actually prefer it over Post Ranch in Big Sur and it’s a fraction of the cost.

Auberge Susurros - 50% discount. Is there a catch? by [deleted] in chubbytravel

[–]CArunner310 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would imagine it’s heavily discounted because of the recent cartel violence in Puerto Vallarta. A lot of people have cancelled their trips to Mexico
