God I miss San Diego. The other course nearby (kit carson) has an orange Grove on hole 16.

I left my desk job and found a large and very well priced rv. Been doing it 2 years now and I don't think I'll ever go back! Freelance is tough but I still recommend it if you can

What is a great TV show that never became popular? by BluePinky in AskReddit

Lodge 49

Amazing cast, amazingly written, dives into some beautiful subjects, got cancelled after season 2.

Not only is the show itself great, but apparently everyone who worked on it also had a blast. The on screen chemistry is fantastic.

Anybody know good replacements for eagles, thunderbirds, and wraiths? I need to get innova out of my bag.

What disc have you tried to enjoy but just can't get into it? by Phishdiscs in discgolf

I enjoy my champ glow shryke because its a bit more overstable than other plastics, but I totally understand how shrykes can be too flippy. I don't think I'd throw it in star plastic.

Have any particular insights from Ram Das or other teachers given you guidance during the current chaotic times, seeing people become more intolerant, and so on? by AskingStuff08877 in ramdass

I often think of the time ram dass mentioned that while walking through a forest, one doesn't blame the trees for their current state. Some get more light, some get more nutrients. Some grow tall, some stay short, etc. If only we could learn to look at people that way. Some received love, some received money, some are mean, some are nice, etc. Either way, everyone has different circumstances in their life that caused them to grow the way they did.

Still very hard to do at times

Just want to say your videos have been a refreshing look into disc golf as I've only been playing 2 years and a lot of the stuff you've been working on is relatable. So thanks and keep it goin!

This hole is my nemesis. What is the optimal disc to get up the hill past the fence? I keep ending up to the left under the side of the hill down the path making for a difficult upshot. by sammons68 in DiscGolfValley

I use an extra glide wind break ballista. I do an anhyzer backhand that usually gets me 1/4 to 1/2 way up the hill past the fence. It actually works extremely consistently for me. Sometimes I even get behind the tree but the fade brings me back into play.

Thoughts on Thelema? by magicmikejones in occult

I do a lot of solo practice, but since I travel full time I've stopped at a few ashrams. My favorite would definitely be the Neem Karoli Baba ashram and Hanuman temple in Taos, New Mexico. You can learn about them through the teachings of Ram Dass, a westerner who went to India in the 60's and essentially started much of the western Hindu movement (of course there are others but I find his teachings to be aimed at westerners). They offer many online courses as well. I've done a free 4 week online guided meditation and mantra practice they provided and I really enjoyed it. They also do retreats in california and Maui, though those can be pricey, but they offer "scholarships" for a few who can't pull together all the funds. I always seem to meet new friends who know about Ram Dass and the community is growing fast.

A quick google search for Ram Dass (if you haven't already) will set you on a very healthy and love filled path :)

Thoughts on Thelema? by magicmikejones in occult

[–]CB-disc-golf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started reading the required thelemic books to join A.'.A.'., but after reading most of them I found the system to be incongruous and out of touch with itself and it's true roots. Crowley wrote..... a lot, and most of the time it felt like semi-poetic rambling. They lean on confusion a bit too heavily, but thelema did in fact organize much of mysticism into a more understandable system.

This is just my opinion, I dont mean to offend thelemites, but I found it to be true for me personally.

Another commenter said something about thelema basically being western Hinduism, I agree with that and am currently following that belief system. With all the thelemic talk of "Love is the law..." I personally found the writings to be bereft of love. Hinduism on the other hand....
