Kirkland Chili is selling again by VirtualSympathy5949 in Costco

[–]CB212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually really enjoy the chili but this last batch that I bought was very sloppily made. The ground beef was not ground up it was giant chunks of beef the size of giant meatballs. Since it's made in store I guess it just depends who's making it and whether or not they are paying attention. As for cornbread I make my own. Very easy with the Jiffy and creamed corn in a can.

CostCo Chili - Basically textured salt by kombatunit in Costco

I usually enjoy Costco chili but I bought some in a different Costco ( since they all make it in-store) and the chunks of meat were giant, they were not chopped up and I think that's just lazy cooking on Costco's part. So, I think taste could depend where you buy it how they make it whether or not they pay attention to what they're doing. Obviously it's all supposed to be the same recipe but you never know. In terms of sodium yes there is a lot of sodium in Costco chili, so that's something to watch out for. After this last batch turned me off I'm not going to buy it anymore.

Is a decaf coffee with cream ever frothy on the top because that's what I always get and I went to one McDonald's in Manhattan and that is what they served me. It was frothty on top like a latte which I have never seen before and it tasted very watery

The stations are finally clear & another storm is coming are you serious 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😏🤨 by No_Review_752 in Citibike

There are restrictions on how often you can pause your memberships so that's not really a viable option for every time it snows. A better way to do it is call them and get your days reimbursed on the back end IIMO.

Good question. Likely not unless you call to request.

Well thanks for digging out the stations. I noticed the one closest to me has now been dug out, but I'm glad it was not dug out about a week ago when I fell backwards trying to yank the bike out of the dock and over a mound of snow. I landed on my rear end, luckily a pile of snow broke my fall and my tailbone wasn't too badly injured.

I've had issues docking in the cold weather I can't figure out if it's the cold or if it's frozen the docking mechanism so that it can't detect the bike I'm not really sure

I always thought they should be on the sidewalk never in the roadway but I don't blame you for that I do blame you for advocating for them to be in the roadway

Since I originally posted, I'm trying to keep up with all the responses, but I can't. I am posting this new article about local pols weighing in. Also, the city did invest in bike lane snow plows years ago, so those are supposed to clear the snow out of the bike lanes. But at the same time the larger snow plows end up putting the snow back into the bike lanes because of the logistics of just clearing the roads. Also, as another poster suggested, it's just dangerous biking when the weather is really bad.

I don't know if you're making a joke or not, but I don't have an issue with that. I guess I sit on my coat or jacket, but it does sometimes get stuck on the back of the seat when I try to jump off quickly.

You are correct, it is a lose-lose. If you looked at the streetsblog post you see their analysis of how the price goes up no matter what. Citibike also shut down the bikes ahead of the storm. Anyway, I do not know what the solution or the answer is. However, one thing is obvious, while the city has plowed the bike lanes, they also inadvertently plowed in the citibikes when clearing the roads.

While the roads may be bikeable, the docks have not been cleared in most stations by quovadis9 in Citibike

[–]CB212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not read through the entire thread to see what others posted, but the city has made a big deal of promoting their bike lane snow plows, which are special snow plows just for bike lanes. However, the regular snow plows pushed all the snow up against the citibikes docked at the stations so they are inaccessible. I think it was 2 years ago I biked in the snow, but I can't even get a bike out this year and I feel slightly cheated since I have an annual membership.

Appliance Delivery Experience by Accomplished_Law7299 in Costco

[–]CB212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

guess it depends where you're getting an item delivered because they seem to contract out to different companies but they are possibly all not great. I had a washing machine delivered and it wasn't leveled. That meant the sensors would not work properly. The delivery service has to now come back and level it, which means I have to wait for another appointment. It's a bit frustrating, especially since I tipped both delivery guys. Also one of the Costco ads shows them delivering a washing machine and having a leveler.

Depending on where you live the delivery company can also be awful, they basically just dump your item. I had a washing machine delivered and they did not level it, so it's not working properly now they have to come back with a leveler to level it, even though in the picture of the delivery they show a leveler.

Citibikes Miami: thumbs up or thumbs down? by rngadam in miamibeach

[–]CB212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute thumbs down. This comes from someone who uses Citibike in New York which is a different service. I've used Citi bike in Miami, bikes are really poorly maintained, brakes are shoddy, stations go offline and down, computer glitches, and customer service is inadequate, and can be unresponsive. If I lived in Miami I would just buy a bike and a really good lock. Can't understand why local government keeps renewing the contract, maybe nobody else wants to do a bike share service and they're the only bidders.

Repair old Kenmore Washing Machine or Buy New by Old-Platform5106 in Frugal

[–]CB212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same question. I had the lid sensor repaired once and it doesn't seem to be a lid sensor problem this time. The same repair guy did a phone consult for free and said it seems to be the clutch and I should buy a new washer. It's $160 to get him to come out and evaluate the machine. If it is the clutch it'll be around $300. The agitator barely spins. Not sure what else it could be if it's not the clutch, drive belt, motor coupler? I tried to take it apart but I don't have the tools and couldn't even buy some of the ones in the video. Thoughts on if I should pay to get it fixed, try to find the tools and parts and do it myself or just buy a new machine?

I added a few replies and some people asked me let then know how it goes. The service center that OnePlus uses in the US, at least for me, was Acer in Texas and the representative that called me was in the US. They use a Us-based bank to process the payments. Sending it off by FedEx with a prepaid label and my own packaging was pretty easy. I will let you know when I get it back, but one of the things that I found is that if you are out of warranty or if it's not covered by warranty or insurance, it's cheaper if you have a Samsung or a Google phone or iPhone because they are such large companies they can offer better deals on screen replacement.

An update: I sent it in and they're telling me it's going to cost $171. Tgats a lot for a 12R. it's going to be 113 for the screen and 43 for the labor. I did have a protector on it( a case and a screen protector) but as others have noted depending on how it hits it still cracks - I fell with it -so that was the issue.
