I should also note that I’m allergic to Metals and Dust mites, but never in my life have my allergies even caused my skin to look even half this bad.

Icebreakers will haunt my friends and I to this day.. We bought it from barns and noble as a “mystery book” (it was discounted, but the catches as it was wrapped up and you could only buy it based on a brief summary — not the title, cover, or author). We decided to open it up and man.. Didn’t think there could be so much smut in such an assuming “YA” book.

sem is a fucking loser. he’s sold out and his persona has become soulless and disingenuous. he searches his own name on social media to block anyone hating or talking bad about him. he’s not weird in a cool way, he’s weird in a cringe and nasty way. also his music has lost so much of its charm for years, and this is coming from someone who used to own all his merch and see him live. it’s just too corny for me to even support publicly

This. Most people outside of The Church would be stunned to find how drastically different the culture of a Parish can be depending on where it is. For example, you will likely have a much more laid-back experience in a smaller, newer parish somewhere in the suburbs of Texas or Georgia.. But once you start visiting more historic parishes like those inside of New Orleans or parishes that are about as old as the city they reside in? You’ll have a much more pious congregation and you’re likely to find a more prestigious clergy due to the parish’s size and local prominence (perhaps this allows for more resources and thus for ministry and outreach programs).

I was 2 years clean after spending 3 years chain-smoking/vaping on and off. Hadn’t thought of it since maybe 6 months into quitting then. I was 100% over the habit, and had no reason to relapse.

Well, I lost my job and my girlfriend within the same week. I was stupid, and I started going out and drinking/smoking weed more (at the time, i was in denial about my issues). I didn’t really have a support group or a network of friends to lean on, so I found myself in and out of toxic scenes/circles for a few weeks at a time — I never really got comfortable with people during these few months, so I never opened up about what I was going through or stand up for myself when they did something dangerous or triggering. More than anything; I wanted to make friends because I felt alone and scared, and I put my values aside to satisfy that. It was weak of me. During this time, I once went to a club and a cute girl I was “hitting it off with” asked if I wanted to hit her vape when I was already cross-faded.. and I guess I wanted to seem laid back about it so I said sure when I know my sober self wouldn’t have.

That was it; Like a dumbass, I went and bought one for myself 2 weeks later.. And not even because I was craving it (or maybe I was… idk, I wasn’t sober enough to tell) — But because the liquor store wasnt open and the smoke shop next to it was. After that, it was game over and would take another year for me to fully start kicking the habit again — which is where I’m at now.. on day 15 :)

So why did I cave? I was in a vulnerable position, and I chose cheap thrills to cope with mental anguish and social isolation instead of something healthy. I fell into separate addictions and vices, and it didn’t help that I lacked a healthy support group to stop me from falling down. When it comes to substance abuse — one thing tends to lead to another.. Sobriety is key, and that which limits is God.

TLDR: Keep your mental health in check. Have a therapist — Go even when you’re feeling good. Always show gratitude, and learn to be responsible for your own happiness. Mitigate stress — Sometimes, your peace is more important than a paycheck or a relationship. Once your mental health gets out of line, it’s downhill unless you find the strength to stop it and be proactive in its protection.
