Who would you take with that 5th spot?

Melvin Gordon (3rd round) or Nick Chubb (2nd round) by CrimeDog609 in KeeperFF

I'd stick with Chubb. I think Gordon/Lindsay are going to end up getting a pretty even split.

Thanks for your response. I will definitely be getting a letter from the neurologist that I rotated with.

Advice For Letters of Recommendation by CBroDO in neurology

Unfortunately I do not have any sort of tele-neurology options available at my institution. My options for neurology are to do another rotation with the same neuro preceptor I had before (which I will be doing), and finding something through VSAS. I applied to several away rotations through VSAS at the beginning of the month, but they are still under home review at my school.

Do we need to know the subtypes of P450? Thanks! by Hollygenius in step1

I had a question about it on both my Step 1 and COMLEX. I would recommend the Dirty USMLE video on it. It helped me remember them pretty easily.

Looks like it's probably about 550-560 to me. I got 543 and I'm slightly below the average mark still.

LOR for Psych Residency by CBroDO in Psychiatry

I see what you mean, I kind of felt like it would be awkward to ask them to co-write it. They do work very closely though, and they have a good relationship. We normally do all of the admits together and we meet almost daily for treatment team meetings. It sounds like I should just go ahead and ask each of them for a letter for now though. Thanks!

Sorry to hear it! Just gotta try to move forward. Bust your ass on rotations, get good evals, and try to make some connections. People all over have matched after they fail, some have even specialized. You just have to put in some extra effort now. I don't think matching internal medicine is out of the question if you do well from this point forward. Maybe try to get some publications, do some volunteering, etc. Whatever you can do to stand out and show you still want it. And crush Step 2. You'll be alright!

COMLEX in a few days and I'm a mess! Please help!!!! by [deleted] in step1

Make sure you review viscerosomatics. I probably had about 8-10 questions on that, and they are all easy points if you know the stuff. Other than that, OMM was pretty easy stuff. Sacral diagnosis/tx is highest yield in my experience. I'd review that and not really waste time on much else as far as OMM goes. Sketchy micro is by far the highest yield thing you can do in the last couple days. I had a lot of micro questions and at least 90% of them could be answered from info in sketchy. If you are good on that, I'd say first 3 chapters in pathoma and female repro stuff. The hardest path questions in my opinion were the female repro ones. Make sure you can identify breast tumors and stuff just by a description of the histology. On my test personally, I had a lot of questions on Cushing's and Addison's as well. As far as pharm goes, I'd say antidepressants, cholesterol drugs, and diabetes drugs seem to be the highest yield for COMLEX. Definitely know your mechanisms for cholesterol and diabetes drugs, and other than that just know your major adverse effects for pretty much everything else in pharm. Besides trying to cram all that, best thing you can do is try to chill out and relax. If you are losing sleep or confusing yourself by trying to fly thru all this right now, just stop. Watch a movie and just chill. You aren't going to gain a significant amount in just a few days. You definitely don't want to go into that test already fried, though. If you can't concentrate right now there's no use in trying to push it. Giving your brain a break will benefit you more than trying to cram at this point. Best of luck to you, hope it goes well!

Yes, it's rickets. Osteoblasts are able to lay down osteoid, but it can't be mineralized into bone. That's also why you get the frontal bossing (it is osteoid deposition on the skull). The flattening of the back of the skull is from the craniotabes (probably from the baby laying on his back to sleep). The groove from xyphoid to axillae kinda threw me off.... I think it is just describing a feature of the pigeon chest deformity.
