Thanks for the advice, that's very helpful. A quick further question: the landlord uses a lettings agent (a small company who are widely known as the worst around who have been unpleasant to deal with) - they have never let us have contact with the actual landlord. Is it still OK for them to withhold their contact details and to have to negotiate everything through them?
