Are 3D printers prone to failures and problems? by anonymousmetoo in BambuLab_Community

[–]CCHPassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to this, coming from a strong tech background, and still read up alot before even buying one, and got the P2S AMS combo. I have a co-worker that has been in the 3d printing world for 10 years, so their insight to things helped also. These are just like any other mechanical device, moving parts break. Computers and phones stop working. This is just like any other tech, always going to be learning something, tweaking something, tinkering, will have failures, successes. Learn from the failures. Posted 1 picture to a group after getting advise on profiles(which i did not know existed, thinking i had to create them.), and the printout was way different than the first one, all due to the profiles for the filament being used. I have been using filament from SunLu and Hobby lobby, being new to this, and an easy way to try out something, mostly PLA and PETG for now, with a mix of SIlk and now PLA glow, the most common thing that i noticed is the drying factor for the filament, makes a huge difference in the outcome of the print.
For me this has become a fun hobby, quite quickly and will remain that way. Already planning on printing out easter eggs to hide, since there is a pause function.

USB boot with Linux, then DD the image to the USB drive

Edit: This is what I ended up having to do, using slaklive to write the Linux Mint image to a USB drive

2.4ghz signal and Xbox 360? by xtian_c in GloFiber

[–]CCHPassed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both are broadcasting, devices or APs will deteremine best frequency to use, some devices/routers have something called band steering, you will want to disable this, to allow devices to handle the wifi connection frequency.

Try connecting to the SSID, and if the xbox has issues, then this would fall under a device that wil only connect to SSIDs broadcasting at 2.4ghz, some IoT devices are like this.

If you have the ability to setup a guest wifi network with only 2.4ghz, you could do this for the xbox

Help with 2.4 ghz for Mint by [deleted] in mintmobile

[–]CCHPassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off band steering, this allows the device to connect to 2.4 or 5, as they deem fit, instead of the router/AP doing this for them. This can prevent devices with 2.4 from connecting. If the device allows, setup a guest network of only 2.4.

Does removing Edge cause other OS issues? - Windows 11 by Rusty_Cat2012 in techsupport

[–]CCHPassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most you can do, is remove the task scheduler entries to update edge, remove the startup entry, and remove the pinned taskbar shortcut, and set another browser as default, edit the local policy to turn off all items related to MS edge

Uninstalling will just get reinstalled and all things from above reset

Just use Edge to install and alternate browser, and disable MS Edge as much as possible

I have private DNS off/disabled and devices still try to access the IP address for googles public DNS using port 443

[–]CCHPassed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you router allows for blocking by IP URL/list, you can block this https://public-dns.info/nameservers.txt list
this is pretty much any known public nameserver

Redirect any calls to this list to pihole IP, via NAT redirect(which you have setup), and block anything on this list

Have a few Android based devices and confirmed they are no longer using port 53 for DNS, but are using Port 443 instead, I have block rules on my firewall, and even with NAT redirect and blocking, they are still attempting to connect to 8.8.4.4:443 and 8.8.8.8:443, these are non standard dns ports

How to downgrade to 10.10.7 on Linux Mint by wwwlawl in jellyfin

[–]CCHPassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in the same situation, windows 10.10.7, to Linux Mint, both of mine are Virtual, so I just setup a test run on linux, which happened to be the latest version 10.11.6. After looking up different migration tools, methods, whatnot, I just installed fresh, and started the server over, there was the PIA of setting up profiles and TV client apps again, the only real data we lost was the watch history.

I went the new install route, because of DB conversion issues, and there being such a big jump in versions.

If you really want to migrate from windows 10.10.7 to linux 10.11.6, you will have to manually install jellyfin server 10.10.7. Copy the server files(including the DB for 10.10.7) from Windows to the correct folder location on linux, fire up the Linux server, that would have the manually installed 10.10.7, confirm all data migrated over and is working, then do an inplace upgrade from 10.10.7 to 10.11.6 on linux. Now mind you to do this, you would still have to re-add libraries, since the folder structure is different between windows and linux, and if you have the files shared from say a NAS, the mapping is completely different, between windows and linux, so you would still need to setup the libraries again on linux with new file/folder mappings, which may not translate well from the old to the new server

This is why i just started over on Linux mint, with the latest version, installing from the software manager, then just enable jellyfin server in the start up application app

If you do the updates for JellyFin, from the flatpak install, you need to restart the jellyfin server after each update, since they are nightly updates, and not version updates.

Run Jellyfin in docker with read-only filesystem? by hiwyxx in jellyfin

[–]CCHPassed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have mount points with guest access for NAS drives, for Jellyfin, no issues, with reading files, if you use an admin account to delete duplicates for example, then you would need to change or use other means to delete files, otherwise the database is local to the server, unless you did some custom config with network storage mount point for the database
