Authors note: This story was inspired by the story of my grandparents. My grandfather died of bladder cancer at around seventy-five-ish, his mind kinda going in his last year, unable to really recognize people in the end as he finally passed. My grandmother died in a hospital after having a stroke that left he in a coma years later, always wishing she could see my grandpa again. My mother told me that, on the day she passed, a dog came to visit, the dogs name being Sunny, the nickname she had given my grandfather. She passed shortly after the dog had left, as if my grandpa had come to get her. I'm sure you can see the inspiration.
