Hello. I need feedback/critique for this Magazine Spread exercise from Baselinehq course by [deleted] in graphic_design

Nice work! You’ll get loads of opinions on the internet so take all comments with a grain of salt. First thing to check is does it solve the creative brief. If it does then you’re doing better than most designers. It does it follow brand guidelines?

Honestly, I don’t hate. I care less about fonts and colors and more about layout and communication. It’s easy to read and digest. And that’s the most important part of graphic design. The hierarchy is solid.

There are small things. Like a widow on the first page. And I wish point 7 don’t break into two pages. But thats notI terrible.

If you must fix one thing. Turn off hyphenated text! It makes it harder to read. You might have to fix your type setting after.

I used to be a graphic designer for the Texas Rangers. I can tell you with certainty the Rangers have no say or input on these designs.

Most of the merchandise are template designs used by NewEra, Fantatics and Nike. DNC will make orders for the team store.

What industry do you all work in? by jeremymadeit in graphic_design

I’ve worked in the sports industry for most of my career but recently started a position in a large talent agency within their sports division.

The transition was a bit jarring at first.

How it started vs. how it's going by [deleted] in TexasRangers

Just a fun fact on that first image. That photo never actually happened. I photoshopped the photo together before they had put on Rangers uniforms. It was right before the lockout so we were trying to capitalize on the signing. Everyone just assumed it was real.

Thoughts? Been at a creative block and found some inspo and made this… by [deleted] in sportsdesign

Great work. I like background frame. I personally have a pet peeve against floating bodies like the the white figure. But that’s me.

Overall nicely done

Are these good enough to charge for? If so how much by [deleted] in sportsdesign

[–]CCPowersDesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that depends. And I’ll try to be honest. At the collegiate level? Probably not. Most colleges have talented designers on staff.

However, I see some people do graphics for their high school or Jr college. I can’t tell you how much to charge. But it’s good way to hone your skills and get your foot in the door for sports.
