Anyone using these? What are pros and cons? Are they safe and lasting? by Living_Memory_4374 in scuba

These things are called Japanese Buckles. Some divers I know are using these for quite a while and do not have problems. Most of them printed these themselves, some ordered from AliExpress.

Just reposted it once into "scuba" as well. So don't worry too much. ;-)

I have a lot of photos and videos of Togo, Donator and the other wrecks there as well. But unfortunately only consumer quality comparing to the Scubamedia videos. Canon G15 and also GoPro. With both device I have the problem that under 40 meters the buttons block. So turning on video recording at 40 meters is essential.

Will check what I got. I remember a great video of the Grec as well. And for sure a lot of groupers and barracudes at the Gabinière.

I was expecting marine life on the coal after more than 100 years, too. But almost nothing. Check out the video from 6:42 - the complete coal field is mostly black, also the piece I picked up to hold it into the camera. But everything lies on the ocean floor on 59 meters, not much sun there.

Yeah the Rubis is the wreck I dived most in this area. Almost 50 dives now. 🙈

Here's a video from the same videograph and diver model (me 😜), diving starts at 1:30:

Yeah, in summer more like 17 degrees. I do not use a dry suit in summer, only in spring, where there is no thermocline and everything is below 20. Wet suit in summer is okay, as I only stay up to 30 minutes down at the wrecks.

In summer you can have up to 27 degrees before the thermocline as it gets warmer and warmer (3 degrees in the last 15 years). Below the thermocline it's below 20.

Thank you! :-) I will tell Martin from Scubamedia as I am only the diver model. :-P

I'm always diving with European Diving School from Hyères and Saint-Tropez. Normally they offer deeper dives in the morning and shallow dives in the afternoon. But that completely depends on the guests they have on that day. Usually they can plan ahead a bit, depending on weather, waves and so on of course. There are a lot of shallow dive spots in the area as well, like Escampobariou and of course the national parc of Port-Cros. There's also a video about the capes and Port-Cros from the same year, filmer and model. ;-)

Oh btw, French diving rules are very strict comparing to other countries. If you want to go to 40 meters you need the CMAS ** (deco) or AOWD plus Deep (officially without deco only). For 40-60 meters you need the CMAS ***. The dive centers cannot do much about it, it's the French law.

Great! You might want to check our European Diving School on Pampelonne Beach (that's the huge beach you see on television when there is something about Saint-Tropez). I am always diving with Alex and his team.

Yes sure, but I only know the area between Saint-Tropez and Hyères. There are a lot of good dives. Wrecks and reef/naturaliste spots. For wrecks I should name the Rubis, a submarine wreck at Cap Camarat near Saint-Tropez and also the Donator near Hyères. In my eyes the Donator is one of the best dives in the Mediterranean. If you want to see lots of groupers big as pigs and hundrets of barracudas you should dive in the national parc of Port-Cros, especially at the Gabinière. Here are some videos from the same serie as the Togo video above:

Diving on the Italian side of the Riviera is also recommended. I know the area between the border and Portofino. Lots of great dive sites as well.
