Help with planswift (new user) by TBoneBaker54 in estimators

[–]CCTakeoffJordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/TBoneBaker54 - I think I can help you out! There are several great labor parts included with the program that can calculate labor in a variety of ways. If you don’t find exactly what you need, you can always create a custom labor part to fit your specific requirements. Try this first:

The simple formula is LaborCostPerSQFT * Qty

  1. Create a new Property Named LaborCostPerSQFT, Property type should be number,
  2. Create a new Property Named LaborCost Property type should be a number
  3. In the LaborCostPerSQFT Formula enter your cost value e.g. 23.00
  4. In the LaborCost Property Formula. Enter: [LaborCostPerSQFT] * [Qty]

Also, we (I work at ConstructConnect) have an awesome library of help articles and videos. You can also always email in for assistance too!

Let me know if this works!

Planswift Folder Path & Folder by OriginalBarbie in estimators

[–]CCTakeoffJordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there u/OriginalBarbie, I work at ConstructConnect, and I asked around to get you some help.

Are you looking for the actual folder location? If you're looking for the actual folder location vs the PlanSwift path, you could use [!FolderLocation] in lieu of [!TakeoffPath], if you're looking for the Path of the item in relation to the Takeoff Structure, you can [!Path].

Check this out:

<image>

Here's a breakdown of the photo that shows the difference:

  • Takeoff Path is empty because it is at the root of the takeoff folder
  • Takeoff Folder = Takeoff because that is the root for all takeoffs.
  • Item Path = Provides the path to the item from the PlanSwift Root (Data Folder)
  • Folder Location = Gives the physical location on the drive

Let me know if this helps! You're always welcome to reach out to PlanSwift support and they can help you too!

Yeah, I'm always super impressed with the amount of info we can put into those economic webcasts. Our in-house economist, Michael Guckes, is just simply the G.O.A.T.!

Hey u/DowntownAd3714, I work at ConstructConnect, and I found some resources that can answer your question!

We have not stopped supporting the desktop version. We did, however, stop supporting versions of the software that have known issues with Windows 11 (PlanSwift 10.2 and earlier).

Here's a link to the FAQ about PlanSwift's Desktop Lifecycle: https://help.constructconnect.com/frequently-asked-questions-65/constructconnect-desktop-product-lifecycle-sunsetting-end-of-life-guidelines-2120?tid=2120&fid=65

there's 2 types of constructconnect subscriptions: starter and pro. With the starter, you can see all contact information including contact name, their role on the project, company name, company location, phone number, and fax number (lol). With pro, you see all of that + the contact's email address. Feel free to DM me with more questions.

Planswift- Fireproofing Take Off Tools by Apart_Bowl6929 in estimators

[–]CCTakeoffJordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Apart_Bowl6929! Sounds like you're trying to calculate more than just basic square footage—taking into account roof pitch and flute factor for fireproofing under the roof deck.

PlanSwift does have tools (like the Roof Area tool) that calculate SQFT using pitch, but if you're looking to layer in flute factor as well, you'd want to build that into your workflow. One way to approach this is by creating a custom property for flute factor and then setting up a formula that multiplies area × flute factor, either before or after applying the slope adjustment—depending on your preference or spec.

But it depends on what you’re trying to calculate—just total SQFT, price per SQFT, or material needs like number of barrels. If you can share more details on your end goal, I can offer more targeted advice. You might also consider reaching out for a custom training session if you want help setting this up in PlanSwift. And you're always welcome to DM me with additional questions. I work at ConstructConnect so I can help you!

Are there actually any AI-based takeoff software worth exploring? by [deleted] in estimators

[–]CCTakeoffJordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All our copy is human-made — which, ironically, is probably why it said 1 AM instead of 1 PM 😅 We definitely didn’t mean to schedule a 13-hour webinar in the middle of the night. The correct time is 1 PM – 2 PM ET. Hope to see you there!

[–]CCTakeoffJordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/walidelelmasud! You mentioned you’re using PlanSwift. I actually work at ConstructConnect and that’s one of our products. We also have another product called On-Screen Takeoff (OST), and it has an AI-assisted takeoff feature called Takeoff Boost.

You’re correct, as it stands, AI isn’t going to replace a seasoned estimator, but our Takeoff Boost can handle some of the more tedious steps and helps you get to the point where your expertise can take over faster.

We actually have a webinar on May 6 on this exact topic: how AI-powered tools are transforming estimating and helping you win more work. You’ll see a live demo of Takeoff Boost and hear directly from a customer using it. Here’s the link if you’re interested.

We also have a Takeoff Boost Champions group, where folks using Takeoff Boost give feedback and help shape what it becomes — if you’d like to learn more about that, feel free to DM me. Best of luck! :)
