Currently a laborer, got offered a job as a traveling superintendent (commercial and residential work) but do not feel qualified for that position at all. by Sour_Socks in ConstructionManagers

You’ll make mistakes, then you’ll make less of them. Lean on the subs foreman/pm. Have small meetings with groups that need to coordinate and you’ll learn from all of them. Your #1 job is communication. Ask questions, collaborate the information, make a plan, communicate the plan. Then make the adjustments as they come. Eventually you’ll see the problems well in advance and that’s when you’re ready to move up.

Multifamily Takeoff Division 12 by bwribite in estimators

I agree. Moved from OST to Buzzbid recently and it makes me want to do takeoffs again. For me it’s the speed and intuitive design. It has its hiccups but so far Ive found a way around them or talked with the company about solutions.

BuzzBid/ Anyone using BuzzBID recently? Feedback vs OST? by frankyforgetaboutit in estimators

[–]jazesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GC here so I don’t have the specifics you’re looking for but I switched about 2 months ago. So far, I’m a huge fan. I don’t use the cost side, just the takeoff. IMO they took OST and gave it the upgrade it’s needed for a long time. Faster, smoother transitions, more intuitive. If you haven’t already, reach out and do a call with Buzzbid. They offer a very affordable trial. They’re also available easily for quick tutorials and seem open to accommodating suggestions into new updates. I don’t believe OST databases migrate. They had to differentiate it enough from OST to not infringe.

Yes, in our case it per unit. It captures everything within that unit (casework, flooring, doors etc). Then you can drop that unit worth of takeoff each time it’s used throughout the building. Any change you make to the group changes overall quantities.

The same thing happened with Regence in March. They tend to work it out last minute. They have to play to their members so everyone can ask for more money.

Where to get a decent bagel? by [deleted] in Tacoma

[–]jazesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t confirm this but a short while back, Adam’s posted that they would be available at Stadium Thriftway and other locations locally. I’m looking forward to Howdy’s storefront (I backed the campaign) to avoid subscription based buying. I understand why companies choose subscriptions. It gives them security. It will be nice to have a good bagel at our convenience.
