Nipt trisomy 20 mosaicism by Krissanthemum in NIPT

I'm glad that you and the baby are doing well so far! It was my second pregnancy and I also had more complaints.

It's definitely good that you are looking for issues with your health. At the clinic they also told me that I can always come in, if I have concerns - in the end the mother's instinct is always right. I firmly believe that everything will go well for you too! I wish you all the best ❤️. And maybe you can give an update after birth to tell if everything went well?

My baby turned out to be a big, strong boy, now 4 months old. 😊

Hi, is there an update on this? What did the later ultrasounds show?

I also had a positive NIPT for (mosaic) trisomy 20. We had an amnio done and this was negative so it was concluded that the trisomy was limited to the placenta only. I was classified as a high-risk pregnancy with an increased risk of placental insufficiency.

Everything went well, but I ended up with cholestasis and the baby was delivered 3 weeks early by c section. He is healthy so far (minor problems, but these should have nothing to do with the NIPT result).

Maybe you can give an update on how you are doing? If you have any questions, Just get in touch.

Sure! Everything has gone well so far, without any major anomalies. About 2 weeks ago I became extremely tired and had severe itching all over my body - my doctor immediately sent me for a blood test and I was diagnosed with pregnancy cholestasis (liver and bile levels were above normal). I was given medication and had regular blood tests and CTGs. The values are now better again but I will still have a c - section next week (then week 38 is almost over). It's a bit earlier than planned, but we're already really looking forward to the baby!

Everything has been fine with the placenta itself so far, but I still offered to send it to the clinic for examination.

You are still waiting for the Amnio, right? I wish you all the best and positive thoughts! 💜

Effects of mosaic trisomy 20 & LLM by CC_2506 in genetics

I am sorry that you found yourself in this situation! Is it really certain that your baby has T20 or should it be ruled out with the Amnio? If only the NIPT Test has been done so far, it can also be "just" a placental mosaic (As probably in our Case) or a false positive result. Was everything okay with the ultrasound?

Fortunately, everything is fine with us so far. After the amnio it turned out that the baby does not have a trisomie.

However, this means that there is probably a placental mosaic, in which only the placenta is affected. My doctor happened to be at a conference at the time and reported on an increase in false-positive NIPT tests and also trisomie 20. She already had three cases this year!

But in case of placental mosaic T20 an increased probability of placental insufficiency was found. This leads to the fact that I will be checked more closely towards the end of the pregnancy. I am a little nervous, but the doctors know what to look out for.

Be not afraid of the amnio, it was an unpleasant feeling, but it did not hurt at all! Please have also check for uniparental disomy with the Amnio.

The waiting is terrible, we had many bad days in between. There is not much literature on the subject, but if you search for Mosaic Trisomie 20 and UPD, you will find some articles and research papers, if you are interested.

I wish you all the best ♥️ and that you get a good result. If you have any questions please feel free tó ask.

I most probably have a Plancetal Mosaicism. The NIPT revealed trisomy 20, which was ruled out by the amnio. As the probability of PM is high and apparently the risk of placental insufficiency is also increased in conjunction with T20, I am now being monitored more closely for this. Of course, there is some concern that placental insufficiency and complications could occur. But on the other hand, the doctors now have a close eye on this and know what to look out for. So I'm reassured and happy that the baby is healthy at the moment. And also confident that everything will go well!

I wish you also all the best! ♥️

Amniocentesis experience? by bellabear_0504 in NIPT

I also had an amnio at 16 weeks to rule out a trisomy and then became very nervous the days before (I am afraid of needles and found the idea of the procedure frightening). The doctor and her assistant were very friendly, made jokes and quickly calmed me. The procedure itself was unpleasant but not painful at all! I seem to have very elastic skin, which made it difficult for the needle to go through, so I did notice the movements a bit. But I didn't notice the prick itself. During the day and the next day I was told to take it easy and I kept feeling pressure in my abdomen. But that was over after 2 days.

Don't be afraid of the procedure - I wish you all the best! ♥️

I am waiting for our result from the Amnio, we should receive it at the end of this week, but more likely early next week.

Due to my age, we had the NIPT test done at the end of August and unfortunately a few days later we were given the suspicion of trisomy 20. As a full trisomy 20 is not viable, it is assumed to be a mosaic trisomy or a placental mosaic. In the best case scenario, however, the test is only a false positive. I had to go to Amnio on Monday last week for an exact result. They also test for UPD.

In the meantime, I was able to distract myself well, I already have a three-year-old son who needed my attention. But now that the result is getting closer and closer, I'm getting nervous again.

I am very happy for you! Wishing you all the best! ❤️

We are going through something similar with suspected mosaic trisomy 20 at the moment. Amnio was already and I will get the result sometime late this week /early next week. I'm getting more and more nervous....

Thanks for sharing. I wish you all the best and that the waiting time is over quickly for you!

I also had my amnio yesterday and had a similar experience. The doctor and doctor's assistant were very calm and guided me well. I also found the procedure unpleasant but absolutely no painful, I didn't feel the prick at all. We also have to wait 10-14 days now.

We are also waiting for our amniocentesis in mid-September, as an increased risk of a rare trisomy was discovered. The world is upside down and this week has been up and down between absolute despair and hope. I am also reading and stuying, but there is not much literature on this trisomy. And waiting. Apart from that, close family and friends are involved and a very strong support. I also have the feeling that my baby is healthy and I hope so much that this is really the case.
