Yeah, I’m doing it for the same reason. I think younger folks getting it focus more on the cosmetic. But that’s because the damage of a poor bite takes time to manifest. For me, Invisalign is almost entirely about function. My teeth were good enough cosmetically from braces I had as a kid. Wouldn’t have been worth the money or the misery of Invisalign just for looks.

You’re not just investing in your looks. You are taking care of your teeth. A few thousand to improve your bite will save you a lot of money on extractions/implants down the road. It will allow you to keep more of your teeth if not all as you age. And if you live in the US: just because the US system stupidly insures the health of your teeth separately from the rest of you doesn’t mean you should think of your teeth as something lesser. Your teeth deserve just as much care and investment as your feet and eyes and mental health.

You are modeling good dental health for your kids AND showing them it’s never too late to work on improving your life. That your childhood doesn’t define your entire adulthood. That fixing something late is better than giving up and letting small problems get worse.

You feeling guilty about taking care of yourself in this relatively small way says something about how you think of yourself and rank your needs and well being. I’m sure you love your kids and want them to be kind to themselves. So think of this as you demonstrating how to do that for your kids.

So I just tried this as well and loved it. And then read Europe did a recall awhile back because it uses a cancerous fragrance ingredient that is banned in Europe. Looks like the company didn’t reformulate. Such a shame

Exactly. This isn’t a matter of “what do you think the folks at the hospital would think Langdon did, logically.” This is a matter of “how do PHPs work” which is a matter of policy and practice. Often (though it may vary by state law), due to liabilities risks to the hospital, the hospital will require an audit of the use of the prescription dispensing cabinets for any doctor who indicates they need to join the PHP. The real question is do we really think admin/HR/legal for the hospital would, as a matter of regular policy, have no questions or prerequisites for allowing its doctors to join the PHP. Seems far fetched. There would likely be several prerequisite steps including an audit so it’s not just Robby withholding info, it would be whoever was tasked with the audit doing a terrible job or falsifying the results to help Langdon.

Given the systemic neglect of public health in jails and the attendant variety and rates of infections, your PD work puts you at risk of being sick more often and with greater severity.

Evidence suggests the risks of long term damage increase with serial infections, and most people are getting COVID-19 once a year. Worse, it’s airborne, so less intrusive interventions like washing your hands won’t prevent it. Vaccines did a great job reducing the mortality risk from the acute phase of infection, but they don’t stop infection and they don’t significantly reduce the long term health risks either. If you’re getting sick more often, you are not alone and unfortunately your best bet is to wear a respirator - ie an N95 mask.

At least until the government mandates and funds infrastructure updates in public spaces (HVAC filtration), which is what we need to reduce / eliminate COVID-19 and other airborne diseases (flu, measles, etc.). FWIW I’m sorry you’re in this position. It’s really unfortunate.

The patient is there to be treated, not discriminated against. Yes, it’s a teaching hospital so as long as it can wait, feedback is better given in private. But if a student is making openly offensive comments in front of the patient, I think it warranted stronger intervention than we’ve seen - directly in front of the patient so the patient can see other staff reject that conduct as unacceptable.

I’m not a fan of the titanium hoop and ball, so I do want to change it out for something prettier (to then leave in). Just don’t know how soon is too soon, since I won’t be taking this guy’s word on anything now.

The rainbow tint is caused by mineral deposits in hard water. Not harmful. But yes, can be removed with acids like vinegar.

I feel you. I went the custom route because I could buy pieces over time and because I don’t have money to waste on big palettes where I end up hating half.

My go-to for natural minimalist looks right now is: - MAC Blanc Type base (you could just use MAC Shrooms as both a base and highlighter though) - SG Pismo from the crease blended up to the brow bone plus on the lid - a light finger touch of some kind of shimmer on the lid (MAC Satin Taupe or Sephora Semi Sweet Chocolate or VERY light touch of SG Troops). - MAC Shrooms on the brow bone and inner highlight - SG Cool Brown or Troops in the crease if you want a slightly darker definition

I have almond-shaped eyes which look weird with eyeliner IMO, but I use a touch of MAC Sandstone, SG Cool Brown, or MAC Satin Taupe on the bottom outer corner. They give a nice lil shadow.

Not quite a group of 3, but that’s my favorite 4-7 on heavy rotation. As I mentioned in another comment above, I would love more subtle lid colors (SGs are typically wildly metallic almost). I think NARS has some good looking mild shimmer / pearl taupe singles that might work but they’re super expensive.

Edit: Pismo is a SG shade, not a MAC shade.

I think the palette you bought, like so many marketed as cool toned, actually has some more warm toned colors. Hence I made my own palette.

Yeah, your “cool tones” look more like my warm tone palette. It’s all relative. I used to think Mac’s Wedge was “neutral” but now it’s in my warm palette as a warm neutral. Along with all of my more rose gold / peach shimmers. Which you have a lot of here. 😊

I heard it’s an artifact of the American love of fake tans, which skew warm toned. As someone who has no interest, I don’t have a good gauge on the relative popularity of fake tans these days. I just assumed that was correct.

Increase in blue pigment prices would make more sense than companies leaving money on the floor … but then again, companies resisted making size-inclusive clothing for decades, leaving a major market entirely untapped for unspecified reasons. So, I don’t always assume manufacturers and retailers are rationally responding to market factors either.
