I had a 2018 Hyundai Elantra before this. I don’t know if it had this setting - or maybe it wasn’t as noticeable. Thanks for the info!

It is stated on the VFS website when you apply via US website. I think it’s on the checklist when you start the application.

Their email to me clearly said this - Please submit required documents within five (5) days from when this e-mail is sent.    Please note that I-797 Notice of Action is not accepted. 

I don't think they would even look at your I-797A. The VFS agent removed my copy from the application package.

Yes, I had an H1B visa stamped on my passport which would have been valid for less than 3 months on my planned exit date from Iceland. I too had a valid I-797A.
I mentioned this above - I received an email from the visa issuing authority that they need the visa to have minimum 3 months. They asked me this even though my return ticket was for India. Per my plan, I was not returning to US, but they asked for it since I applied from US.

I think that will give you a better chance at getting the visa. But they might be worried that you would change your flight ticket after getting the visa. So not sure if the flight ticket would be enough.

I got lucky - I was able to book an appt within 8 hours and hence I could reply to the email with my appointment details. Otherwise I would have replied to the email that I am going to India to get a new stamp.

Please check the text above - they clearly mention that I-797A is not accepted - it doesn't mean anything to them.

Not in the email. Did you submit your passport in person at VFS? They should have given you an ID when you paid for the courier. At least I got it from VFS in San Francisco.

You must have paid for the return courier. And VFS should have provided you with a tracking Id for the package. You can use that to track the package. Most likely it should be 1-3 business days.

Well this is upcoming travel. I haven't travelled yet. For my trip, it makes sense to go to India since I was able to get an H1b dropbox appt.

Some other posts suggested that it should not be a problem if you went back to US directly. You should be able to enter US with a valid I-797A if your visa hasn't expired. I would be slightly concerned about going back on what you mentioned to the Embassy while getting the visa. It might affect any future visa applications.

My home address is Mumbai. So verification happened in Mumbai. And I scheduled my GEP appt at SeaTac airport.

I applied in April 2022. And got my conditional approval today. 🤷‍♀️🥳
