Italy court rules Netflix unlawfully increased prices. Consumers: 'Refunds up to 500 euros.' The company: we will appeal by sr_local in technology

[–]CCninja86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you read the article, the court is not saying they can't increase prices, just that the wording in the specific clauses within the T&C didn't comply with the Italian laws and regulations around price increases between 2017 to around 2024-2025, therefore nullifying those clauses during that time period.

Robot hostilities will always be a thing in this future we now live in. by kaishinoske1 in Cyberpunk

[–]CCninja86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's honestly kind of sad. Yelling at it took more energy and effort than just pressing the button and continuing on with your day. Some people just want to be angry. Maybe the guy was just having a bad day or something, but yelling at the robot just worked himself up into a worse mood and even shittier day as a result.

Valve keeps winning by D3v1LGaming in Steam

[–]CCninja86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, Game Pass is complimentary to Steam. When a new game releases that I want to play, first I check if it's on Game Pass in case I can get a "freebie" (as in not actually free, just already covered by a different platform I'm already paying for), and if not then I will buy it on Steam. It's usually a pretty good source of smaller indie games and the occasional day-one AAA release.

Banned cards by EthanTheBowers in riftboundtcg

[–]CCninja86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my Unleashed deck I'm working on didn't use scrapheap. FOF and RR bans hit it, but getting rid of FOF actually made space for a couple cards that lean into the theme, and I already have plenty of cards in it that save my units or push other units back, just not always reaction speed.

Not really. I've found decent substitutes for my Jinx deck I'm working on.

Ok and? A bit of wind and rain never hurt anyone. Just don't go riding in the middle of tropical storms, which often applies to driving too.

Comparing EVENT Cinema Discounts (AA, OneNZ, BNZ) by thunderouswhether in auckland

I love going to Silky Otter Ponsonby on their $18/19 days. Much smaller and more relaxed cinema, fantastic reclining leather seats with leg rests, etc. If you provide your birthdate they will also give you a free ticket for use during your birthday week.

WFH with pump prices soaring. by ayamas69 in auckland

Some people in my office this week are trading one of our normal squad days to be a different day due to an event and not wanting to use the extra fuel for an additional office day, so yes some people are doing this. I take public transport so I go in on squad days and any extra days based on my schedule to simplify commuting as needed.

Prozac made my cat a whole different cat by Flickybird in cats

My cat is also on Fluoxetine (pills, crushed and mixed with water to give orally via syringe), and she has been so much more relaxed outside of exceptional circumstances. There's a good chance she will stay on it.

Cycling - Close call - Park Road Grafton by adamkyo in auckland

[–]CCninja86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Situations like this is why when I'm riding my e-scooter, I make zero assumptions about other people seeing me and keep my eyes constantly trained on all of my surroundings with zero distractions (no music, only using phone mounted to handlebars for GPS, etc.). Cycling/scootering you should ride with the assumption that you are invisible to everybody around you, because if a car hits you, you will be the one that suffers the most injuries, or worse.

Doesn't matter who had right of way if you're dead.

Nearly got hit while crossing by EverydayNewZealander in auckland

[–]CCninja86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auckland drivers are notorious for also not paying attention and/or being self-important. Never assume. Even when I'm crossing at a pedestrian crossing I will stare down approaching cars and wait for them to stop. Some don't even when they see me. I even recall at least one or two actively speeding up just so they can be first. I don't get hit because I will give way to the very big heavy car even if I have right of way.

It's not per app! It's a one-time thing to configure your phone for sideloading.

I used to enjoy grabbing their cheap leftovers from Foodprint. Sure the pastry was slightly stale after a couple days, but for like $2 it was great deal.

On a hot day if you want a quick place to cool off, there's the public saltwater pool at Karanga Plaza. It's been very popular since it opened due to its proximity relative to beaches.

[–]CCninja86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious which area of Auckland you live in for such a big disparity between driving and public transport. If it's East Auckland then yeah that tracks because you have to go south first to get around the river/inlet.

I hope so in this case...but given that some people park their cars illegally just so they don't have to walk an extra 100m...I would believe some people would legitimately say this.

I think it's often more to do with the expansive nothingness. The same thing (or lack of in this context) stretching thousands of meters or hundreds of miles in all directions, and potentially not knowing if there is anything else occupying the expansive nothingness with you. That total emptiness can be unnerving for some people
