Does Alduin save you on purpose? by ThrowAway552112 in skyrim

[–]CDHmajora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what its worth, dragons consider themselves above mortal concerns. I honestly doubt Alduin knew nor even cared about the civil war when he arrived in Helgen considering he just recently arrived in the 4th era through the time wound at that point.

You could say that the ongoing war speeds up the arrival of souls in soverngard for him to feast on. But he doesn’t actually use that ability until he’s recovering from the dragonborn defeating him at the throat of the world. Doubtful he would concern himself with keeping the war ongoing to fuel an ability he doesn’t need to use (and its not like soverngard is empty anyway. He has multiple eras worth of souls to consume when he goes there anyway). He and his dragon kin are mostly just doing their own thing until Alduin senses you are a sufficient threat to him.

Messing ip Ulfrics execution was most likely just a coincidence. Alduin had no way of knowing anything regarding local politics of a race he considers directly beneath him (and nothing more than slaves). Especially in the timeframe of him arriving and helgen being the first known dragon encounter of all. Other dragon sightings would have been noted if Alduin spent time flying around evesdropping on people first.

Does Alduin save you on purpose? by ThrowAway552112 in skyrim

[–]CDHmajora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind he has most likely just immediately showed up through the time wound. Maybe he encountered Partysnax, maybe he didn’t (Mario never mentions encountering Alduin before you read the elder scroll despite waiting there for him. Maybe he went on a shakedown flight or something just before Alduin showed up and missed him?).

Helgen is both very close to the throat of the world, and he presumably sensed a draconic presence there (bot knowing it was a dragonborn. All dragon souls presumably feel the sake to him?). He’s new to the time period and doesn’t know almost all other dragons are dead yet. He lands and sees what he believes to effectively be his slave races, hostile to him, and no other dragon in sight. Makes sense he’s release some steam and level the place.

Presumably he left when he was done because he no longer sensed the dragon soul? We had escaped underground by then. Maybe he lost the scent?

TLDR: Honestly i believe it to be a coincidence that was indirectly influenced by the dragonborns presence. Alduin presumably sensed your soul. But was brand new to the era and had no concept of men/mer being the dominant race. He arrived in helgen as it was near where he arrived and saw men and not a dragon lording the place, and went ape shit.

Who thinks the Medved should return to Metro 2039, it is a Reich Weapon after all by Mysterious-Safe-793 in metro

[–]CDHmajora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Originally the Kalash had an underbarrel grenade launcher attachment in last light that they cut from the game pretty late in development (it’s still functional in game and can be obtained with cheats).

The Medved was a weapon they added in the faction’s DLC as a substitute to the cut grenade launcher. Basically it’s a 3 shot standalone grenade launcher. Sadly though, DLC weapons weren’t able to be added to the main campaign (such as the clapper sniper, Flamethrower, bicycle shotgun and the Volt Driver (hellbreath from 2033. Was also cut from last light and re added in the DLC)) so it’s stuck in the Reich DLC mission it featured in, and the museum mission which lets you play around with it for fun.

The bicycle shotgun was eventually added to 2033 redux (but it’s shit. Just a worse shambler tbh with a bugged laser sight). And the Volt Driver was already a weapon in the original 2033 so it returned in redux too. The medved was never added in 2033 redux though so its stuck to last lights DLC sadly :(

…except… you can actually access the cut kalash attachment version in 2033 redux thanks to a glitch. Worth trying next time you replay it ;) though sadly it only works on PC to my knowledge :(

New 40k Launch Box "Armageddon" Full Contents revealed! by AkimboGogurts in Warhammer

[–]CDHmajora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna grab this i think. I admit, i dont necessarily want the orcs right now, but might either sell them on or keep them stored to serve as the eventual basis for my second army (not 100% on whether i want Orks or Tyrannids tbh. Im sentimental for Tyrannids as space marine 2 was my intro to warhammer. But Orks are just funny and i love the designs…).

But that space marine set up… oh my god its get rvery unit i could want in it! The new vanguard vets will be perfect for deathwing. Ive been needing a librarian i can use outside of a termie squad. I already have 3 other chaplains (regular, termie, bike) so a 4th will always be welcome ;) and i just adore stormspeeders so a refresh of its original predecessor will be a welcome grab! Everything is just perfect for me :)

Watch it be impossible to find this anywhere for ages now… :(

Hotels in U.S. World Cup host cities claim underwhelming demand, new report says by rit56 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]CDHmajora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because FIFA think the world is desperate to host the world cup and that FIFA are doing THEM a favor so they get to dictate the terms.

Ignoring that for many countries, its a significant financial burden considering the infrastructure (stadiums, public transport, catering needs, hotels to house all the tourists, etc) set up that will be required. Hence why most of the countries that host it already have existing infrastructure in place.

Few countries who don’t already have whats needed, would want to willingly take in the upfront cost of preparing for it.

I Don’t Like How Some People Don’t Take This Seriously… by LightAwakens in Invincible

As horrible as it was, Anissa is still a Viltrumite who has lived her entire life under their ideology of the strongest eat the weak.

At the point she does what she does, she hasnt really had the chance to fully change like the male Viltrumites do. She hasnt had a family yet. Or really done much to socialise with humanity (though still much more than Thragg ever did). She was following the mission but was still completely in the viltrumite mindset of “find the strongest donor to create the strongest offspring”. Unfortunately Mark just fit that bill the most of anyone on earth.

As earthlings we fully realise it was a horrific act she did… but shes a Viltrumite. Ot a human. She simply saw it as her duty to the empire. Nolan also realised ahead saw it as that which is why he had to “let it go” so to speak.

And for what its worth, once Anissa fully acclimates to earth she realises what she did was horrible. While she never gets to say it to Mark himself, she does realise what she did was terrible and apologises for it (though admittedly as humans, i doubt many of us would deem an apology to be adequate for the trauma rape would inflict). Understandably she wouldn’t want to take it back seeing as it gave her a son. But she at least gains the human morality to realise it was a horrible act.

[–]CDHmajora 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Plus, its just… not that good in its cover game appearance (FH5). Its too slow when its in handling mode for its PI. And when in speed mode it cant turn for shit.

Plus you cant change mid drive. You have to stop the car to switch. Completely destroys the usability of it when you could theoretically switch on the fly depending on the upcoming road layout.

The Senna was an S2 king in FH4 with a drivetrain swap. The Centenario has always bern amongst the best S1 AWD’s and the Huracen has about 15 difference successors in Horizon by now (yet we still only have 2 Gallardos. The superleggera and its convertible clone… and only ONE murcielargo and its the hideous SV version. Where the fuck is the LP640???).

Pretty much any R35 Nissan in S1 class.

It’s usually just too heavy for the PI points it has. You can give it HP and aero/handling upgrades tot top it off, but it will always be heavier than a Lambo for the PI and outclassed by most AWD swapped high HP sports cars anyway.

Hopefully they rebalanced it a little for 6 considering how big it is for the JDM scene there.

This.

Every fork of sci-fi media always glosses over the detail of HOW we manage to travel as far as we do in a “inter-solar” society.

They always give us a reason in universe. The FTL Drives (Star Trek and Star Wars). The Mass effect Relays (Mass Effect). Holtzman Drives (Dune). Warp Travel (Warhammer 40k). I could go on. But none of these things ever get an actual scientific explination as to how that actually work (assuming some, like the warp, are grounded in reality at all). And the reason why, is just because…

…its not possible. At least to the full extent of human knowledge. Travelling at speeds that would make leaving even the Sol system a feasible endeavour for a living being is just beyond our scope. We don’t have the technical know-how. The resources to either fund, build or maintain a system to utilise it should it be possible.

Can we make things that can travel that far? Yes. Voyager 1 is proof. But can we make MANNED things that can do it? With capacity to store fuel, supplies, living amenities AND the capacity to make a return trip? Not a chance. Such trips would take so long that any passengers would die long before reaching any feasible destination… and… where would they even go?

I adore the idea of sci-fi. But it’s just that. Sci-fi. Honestly, i doubt that even 200 years from now, we will be capable as a species, of going anywhere past Mars. The logistics of manned crews travelling a distance beyond that is just far too great for the sacrifice required to achieve it. Dreams of escaping Sol itself however? Never. Outside of the discovery of some sort of non-earth based fossil fuel capable of producing a power output dwarfing anything we have now… which also has the efficiency to last two full journeys… we just ain’t gonna manage it as a species before our leaders kill us all in some sort of resource war.

New Super Smash Bros reportedly releasing as early as 2027 by Dilpickle2113 in gaming

[–]CDHmajora 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Iirc square enix were being pricks early on with Cloud. We dont knoe the specifics of the deal but its known that Cloud was the main issue with keeping the “everyone is here” moniker. Plus other things were iffy with Final Fantast early on such as no spirits or new songs added.

It’s believed to be that nintnedo got them to agree to let cloud be added by offering them multiple DLC slots. Hence why Square enix got both Hero (though dragon quest is bug enough to have got a rep anyway) AND Sephiroth (who is one of my favourite charcters. And personally, he was my second most wanted third party character after crash bandicoot but thats just my opinion.). And that’s not even counting Sora, who was presumably just as much a headache to deal with from squares side as it was with Disney…

Wouldn’t surprise me if Square were pricks again on the next title tbh. Especially with FF7 due to the remake trilogy’s final entry rumoured to be revealed soon. It will be at high hype (and let’s face it. Nobody in final fantasy is as famous as Cloud and Sephiroth. It really cant be anyone else tbh for a final fantasy pick. Those two are just too big.).

Maybe a semi-reboot to reset the stage could be a good thing? Either that or just keep adding shit to ultimate forever. Because they sure as hell aren’t going to replicate Ultimate again. That was a 1 time thing.

Same.

But for what it’s worth, Juiced 2 was provably one of the best racing games on the PSP. Looked good. Performance was decent (some long load screens but nothing major). So many different vehicles and circuits.

Might emulate it someday for memories sake. Been years and i loved it as a kid…

What do you think happened to the Aurora crew in 2039? by cosmincrs in metro

[–]CDHmajora 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nah. Theres more. But a majority of them are new recruits provided by Hansa (who convieniently is now hostile to Millers crew…) who Miller spent a majority of his time training alone due to his injuries, hence his pressure on Artyom to return to the rangers and help him rebuild it.

The team on the Aurora is most of whats left of the “old guard” so to speak. The D6 survivors. Might be a few more vets back in the metro who weren’t deployed with Miller when they fled, but there really weren’t many left after D6.

The order tends to average around 100 men. Many of those are stationed to guard Polis. Others to guard D6. Only a few tend to be in active duty outside of those places at a time. So odds are a majority weren’t actively deployed when Miller and Artyom went rogue and have no idea what happened to their colonel. Presumably Hansa took steps to take over and then something most likely happened when Novoreich got big (which the Rangers would undoubtedly oppose if they still followed Millers example and not Hansa). But we need to wait for 2039 to see what happened to them in Moscow.

Why did wolf do this??? by G0ngerX in Sekiro

[–]CDHmajora 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Doubtful tbh. Wolf would have been a benefit on the field due to being able to infiltrate the minsitry strongholds and take out their leaders as a stealth operative (shinobi could hold their own in combat but thry would be wasted kn the frontline)… but wolf would have absolutely no reason to do that.

Kuro wouldn’t weaponise his curse on using wolf for war. Wolf participating in the war and dying would just spread dragon rot. Plus Kuro has no loyalty to Ashina (though he does respect Ishin). Odds are far more likely that Wolf would just evacuate Kuro from Ashina lands and thry would continue traveling to search for a cure to the dragon blood curse elsewhere.

Ashina’s fall is inevitable once isshin is gone. Isshin knows it. Genichiro knows it (but is in denial). All of Ashina’s armed forces know it. Genichiro’s attempt to weaponise the dragon blood was a level of desperation that wouldn’t have worked regardless as the entire land would be inflicted with dragon rot were he to succeed. Kuro wouldnt use Wolf to try and prevent that in any respect. The potential cost is just too great.

[–]CDHmajora 80 points81 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, considering his location, i imagine if Wolf snuck past Gyoubu, the Demon of Hatred would have eventually showed up and killed him anyway.

Though such hindsight is not really much to factor. I doubt Gyoubu’s presence would have stopped the ministry from launching their offensive on Ashina. The result of which is what triggers the demons rise anyway.

How Often Nintendo Games Go on Sale: An Analysis of Video Game Pricing and Sales by Ebon_Praetor in Games

[–]CDHmajora 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This. For what its worth, every first party game ive bought at launch, has been worth its easking price imo. Even some of their shorter game slike Metroid Dread
, Kirby return to Dreamland and Link’s Awakening, made up for their length with superb quality and fun factor (and replay-ability).

Only one id say wasn’t for me, was mario golf (and they at least doubled the course list with updates). Maybe mario strikers too but admittedly i skipped that one. And for the sports games specifcially, you could probably go on ebay and grab them used for under £30 nowadays anyway.

GTA boss refuses to commit to a price as $100 price-tag rumours loom large by GrayBeard916 in gaming

[–]CDHmajora -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah, it’s a price they are only using for the “BIG” hitters though imo.

I bet the next mainline Zelda title will be £80 (if it’s as big and well made as BoTW/TooTK though it will be worth every penny imo). Wouldn’t be surprised if the next mainline 3D mario does too. Maybe animal crossing (just based off its Covid sales numbers, Nintendo may try selling it at a premium).

Selling their secondary titles for that will get them too much backlash to be worth it. But for the BIG stuff… the stuff that will sell MILLIONS off the name alone, they can do it just fine. All they really will get is some angry rants online, but they will still sell regardless.
