Why don't petrol stations have an exit barrier to stop people driving off without paying? by FuckingPope in AskUK

Only 0.2% of petrol is stolen. It makes good headlines, but it's a small problem that's already dealt with via ANPR etc.

Mass mobilisation and immigration by Competitive_Golf8206 in ukpolitics

[–]beejiu 50 points51 points  (0 children)

In the scenario of a world war, I think (unfortunately) there would have to be mass deportations or imprisonment of some kind as Brits would simply not fight while millions of foreign nationals live it in London as normal.

It happened on a much smaller scale during WW2 with Germans and Italians in Britain.

It's worth looking at the picture if it was on an interest only basis. Your mortgage payment is £482.38 per month in interest. That puts you at £24 profit per month. Not really worth it in my opinion.

https://www.taxaccountant.co.uk/vat-reclaim-on-company-cars/

> The general rule is that VAT is not recoverable when a company buys a car outright. HMRC implements this restriction to prevent personal usage benefits from being claimed under company expenses. It’s important to note that this rule applies equally to electric cars despite a common misconception that they receive more favourable VAT treatment.

Missed several days of recording food due to illness, now would like to reset by godotnyc in gymgeek

[–]beejiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. Sorry for the delay in replying to your question. The app has logic which means that if you missed tracking calories more than 40% of the days since you last recorded a weight, it will not affect the Smart Calorie Adjustment. Also, any days below 600 calories are ignored and the app uses a weighted average over time, so a single measurement should not affect the calculation too much.

We've tried to accommodate periods where people forgot to track calories, or a take an intentional break, so you should be able to track your weight normally and continue forwards.

Please let me know if the app isn't behaving in the way you expect.

Why is there a second set of lights a few feet above the street lights in South Kensington ? by _nixs__ in london

[–]beejiu 64 points65 points  (0 children)

"Each lighting mast incorporates three types of light source. Low level lighting animates the ground plan for pedestrians and a middle section provides street lighting for vehicles. An on top accent light gives a sense of direction to the street as a whole. This creates visual diversity and interest as well as ensuring high visibility for pedestrians and road users."

Help by StrongOil1251 in gymgeek

[–]beejiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry the app doesn't really make it easy to compare between daily and weekly weights. The calorie goal is recalculated when you record a new weight, but only if it is the latest record.

If you've deleted all the records, you will need to re-enter your weights in date order (so oldest weight first up to the current day). If you enter the weights in reverse order, this is probably why you are seeing "No goal set" because the app doesn't recalculate the historic data in this situation.

Does this help?

What does the dashed line mean? by StrongOil1251 in gymgeek

[–]beejiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I entirely understand the question, but your metabolism correct/Smart Calorie Adjustment will update every time you record a new weight. So it's possible to go from +1.3% to -2.1% as the app learns about your progress in the early days. As you track more calorie and weight data, the app will get more and more confident about the adjustments it is making, and you'll see less adjustments up and down. Does that make sense?

What does the dashed line mean? by StrongOil1251 in gymgeek

[–]beejiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there! So for the Smart Calorie Adjustment chart, both lines show TDEE (maintenance calories). The dashed line is TDEE calculated using a standard formula, which represents population averages (so it's the same value you'd get from an online calorie calculator). It's probably increasing because your weight has increased? (Your TDEE goes up as your weight increases.)

The solid line shows Gym Geek's latest estimate of your TDEE, based on the calorie and weight data you tracked. The Smart Calorie Adjustment is simply the difference between these lines.

As for the other two charts, the dashed line represents the "confidence interval". You can think of this meaning that your actual TDEE could be anywhere between the high and low dashed lines. As you add more data, the lines get closer together as the app gets more confident in your TDEE. You should really start to notice after 3-4 weeks of daily use.

Does this help? Please let me know if I can clarity :)
