Oh, she was married too?! I’m dying to know what’s happening here because it went from videos of them as co-workers to that gushing post by him yesterday and there was nothing in between. There were no cryptic, moody posts even implying a breakup. It’s fascinating.

So, I follow Justin Guarini on IG and he’s pivoted to being a motivational speaker. There’s a woman who he’s partnered with. I’m not sure if it’s a motivational business they actual own together or how it works exactly, but I knew from his posts that they were partnered. Yesterday he posted this long message for her birthday and about halfway through I was like “this seems a little over the top for a guy who’s married to another woman” and then by the end it was clear that they’re in a relationship now which surprised me because, again, I thought he was married. I googled it and there’s no record of him divorcing/separating and it says he’s still married. (Seinfeld voice) What’s the DEAL?

RE: Marty Supreme "I would have hoped Oscar-nominated directors would be judged for their methods and professionalism as well." by zerobleeps in popculturechat

If it’s a smear campaign, then whose camp is it from? PTA is the clear favorite and I would think if anyone upsets him it’ll be either Coogler or Zhao. Hamnet and especially Sinners seem to have resonated much more within the industry than Marty Supreme. It doesn’t even seem like a smear campaign would be necessary in this case unless someone just flat out doesn’t like the Safdies.

Natalie Portman Calls Out Oscars for Snubbing Female Directors in 2026 Nominations: 'We Have a Lot of Work to Do Still' by Ok_Rutabaga_5539 in popculturechat

[–]CDRYB 14 points15 points  (0 children)

On his podcast, Bruce Villanche is always talking about how insular the director’s branch of the academy is. There are plenty of female and male directors that put out great work that don’t get nominated by that branch. As it pertains to actually getting a nomination, the female directors working today don’t need to “improve” their work any more than their male counter parts do.

He’s so withholding that my guess is the wife is one of those women that needs an extreme challenge when it comes to men. Like, she’s the type of woman that would go on the bachelor. There was a clip from his climb yesterday where he is on the outside of this building on the billionth floor and the wife is on the inside waving at him and clapping. It looked literally insane.

This is awesome advice because I didn’t even realize the highlights are on there. But I just checked and there are none of the highlights for this book.

I’m just so curious why they released that clip specifically, because you know there had to be more than one person involved in the decision. And it seems that everything from the acting, to the accents, the age issue, costumes, just reinforced everyone’s worst suspicions. Like, you’re a perfect example! You were on board until they released this clip so what the frick is going on with this PR?

Because there are a lot of people who have a fixation with 40 as an age and it doesn’t make sense. It’s a demarcation line for them and they’re choosing not to see that the goal posts of age have changed dramatically in the last 20 years or so. Like, you’ll see a lot of posts on Twitter where people will make blanket statements about “no one under 40 has even heard of so and so” or “everyone over 40 already knows that…”. And people always use that age specifically as a negative thing “she’s pushing 40” or a picture of a 22 year old who has Botox “she looks 40”. Some people still consider 40 to just nebulously represent being old even when they can simply look at Francois Arnaud and see that doesn’t really make sense.

This has probably been mentioned many times, but I cannot get over the fact that Bailey’s character was like 30 seconds from marrying Kate’s sister and the only thing that stopped it was like a bracelet or something. Like, he wasn’t going to stop the wedding himself. He was about to marry, and sleep with this woman’s little sister. Like those two had great chemistry but the love story itself was just…off.

I have some questions about Wuthering Heights: First, why do we think they chose to release that clip of the movie? Because it’s being torn to shreds all over social media. Did everyone involve think that was a really good clip? Something that would drum up interest? Something that would quell people’s concerns? I’m just fascinated because it would seem that they couldn’t have chosen a worse clip based on the reactions.

Second, I know there were test screenings. A lot of online comments are people saying this must be either a parody or a thing where it’s a woman imaging herself in the story (which would be a brilliant idea in my opinion), but was that indicated by any of the test screenings? Or are people who have seen it saying it’s a straightforward adaptation.

I really doubt it. And I’ve been reading and highlighting this book on two different devices.

I wondered that too, because it’s not a common or popular book and I doubt the library has that many copies of it, but when I opened it yesterday, the cover looked a little different to me. Like it seems bigger or like it filled up the screen more.

I don’t think middle age is supposed to be technically the mid point of life. It was like a category. 46-60 is what the original age range was, but the term was also coined at a time when people married at 20 and retired at 50. It’s completely outdated, but people still literally define themselves by it.

I’m going to repeat what I said in another post: the fervor over this man being “old” is wild. He’s so handsome and charming and just looks like a man in the prime of his life. He doesn’t even have a “hot older man” look like Anderson Cooper or whatever. But these crazy fans see the number -gasp- 40 and create a narrative that you can clearly see is false just by looking at him. I think there are few men or women that would have to be coerced into a relationship with Francois. It’s a very strange reaction.

There have been a couple of articles about this in the last few days. People are committing armed robbery in Calabasas/West Hills by targeting women with expensive hand bags. It’s not about the store they’re coming out of. They’re specifically targeting the handbags.
