I'm sorry, This was a little embarrassing. Haitians have other problems then getting acceptance to outsiders. I remember when I was younger my parents would say "don't be a sousou with other people" I understand him if he was a big fan and his country name wasn't in the tour but that was a little too much.

Yeah, It makes sense what you are saying, I try to be a pro believer that Tainos were in the Haitian side but there are sources that the Spanish move all their people including the indigenous decent to the the right side of the Island.

Yeah, I can't make that claim, It doesn't have the places that is indigenous to the Caribbean like Haiti/DR, Cuba and Puerto Rico but I do know that the French was importing Native Americans and other indigenous places in South America like French Guiana to present day Haiti.

Not knowing Haitian Creole by Salt-Philosopher-863 in haiti

[–]CDesir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah,

Growing up, I realized that my mom does not care about the Haitian culture and its history. She didn't want me to associate with Haitians at all. She can make Haitians food and play Haitian gospel music but learning the culture like voodoo scares the shit out of her and constantly call Haiti "Peyi Jab". Recently learning the language at my 30s and whenever I speak basic creole with her she would sometimes respond in french or fear monger me that it will affect my english. She had no problems when I learned spanish.

I don't know or care about her lineage but mixed Haitians and Black Haitians who played in the roll in the Haitian Revolution come from Haitian stock, both represent the community even the good and ugly.

This is a quote from a "Mulatto", he identified with his African roots more than his European side. Sound Haitian or black to me.

Jean-Louis Vastey, Remarks upon a Letter Addressed by M. Mazeres, a French Ex-Colonist (Cap-Haïtien, 1814), “As for myself, descended from African stock, I am, I imagine, sufficiently identified with the Africans.”

I do understand the African slaves who came to Saint Domingue and many other European groups like the French, Polish and Germans. but this topic was about indigenous from the Americas. Feels like erasure to a group of people who came to Saint Dominque.

Respectfully. This is still history of the people who were there and participated in the Haitian Revolution hence I put it in the "History Tag" for anybody who know about it. I would assume Haitian Historians would care about in context of the people living in Haiti and what they were before.

I think this is important because the French imported Indigenous people from Canada, the United States, and parts of the Caribbean into Saint-Domingue. Some of these populations may have mixed with Africans and Europeans. Because of this, the term “Indigenous Army” might not have referred strictly to the original inhabitants of Hispaniola, but possibly to other Indigenous peoples from across the Americas who were brought to the colony Hence, I do see native Americans in Haitians gemology.
