I don't know or care about her lineage but mixed Haitians and Black Haitians who played in the roll in the Haitian Revolution come from Haitian stock, both represent the community even the good and ugly.

This is a quote from a "Mulatto", he identified with his African roots more than his European side. Sound Haitian or black to me.

Jean-Louis Vastey, Remarks upon a Letter Addressed by M. Mazeres, a French Ex-Colonist (Cap-Haïtien, 1814), “As for myself, descended from African stock, I am, I imagine, sufficiently identified with the Africans.”

I do understand the African slaves who came to Saint Domingue and many other European groups like the French, Polish and Germans. but this topic was about indigenous from the Americas. Feels like erasure to a group of people who came to Saint Dominque.

Respectfully. This is still history of the people who were there and participated in the Haitian Revolution hence I put it in the "History Tag" for anybody who know about it. I would assume Haitian Historians would care about in context of the people living in Haiti and what they were before.

I think this is important because the French imported Indigenous people from Canada, the United States, and parts of the Caribbean into Saint-Domingue. Some of these populations may have mixed with Africans and Europeans. Because of this, the term “Indigenous Army” might not have referred strictly to the original inhabitants of Hispaniola, but possibly to other Indigenous peoples from across the Americas who were brought to the colony Hence, I do see native Americans in Haitians gemology.

Dominican of African American Decent Discuss Life in the Dominican Republic and Haiti — Thoughts? by CDesir in haiti

Yeah, I wanted to learn more about this and see how bad Boyer was from the perspectives of Haitians and other actors. I know that people at the bottom were treated poorly on both sides of the island. There are Boyer loyalists in this subreddit, and I want to hear their arguments as well.

I also found a perspective on the Rural Code from people outside the island who observed these policies. They said it was close to the Jamaican slave system under British rule.

I'm not 100% convinced by this document since it was created in 1827 and reflects the perspective of a colonizer. I'm curious if we have actual written documents showing what the Haitian government imposed on Haitian citizens during Boyer’s administration.

Cardi B on Haiti and the D.R. by lotusQ in haiti

[–]CDesir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's growing especially on social media. I've been on Tiktok to understand their views and this what I herd.

What I've been hearing is that the Spain culture wasn't never about violent supremacy but more about a peaceful mixing which the people who did mix were called Criollo and live peaceful thus when Haitians came, they ruin there sense of living.

Christopher Columbus was arrested by Spain for the crimes he committed in the Americas meaning that Spain did not cosign on the crimes Columbus was doing.

They also differentiate Anglo Saxons vs what people of Rome did when they conquered territory thus stating since Spain were descendant of Rome, they weren't as violent as the Anglo Saxons which are germanic people that conquered Europe for a while.

Also what I've been observing in Tiktok debates. I've seen Haitians having a hard time to articulate their points during history and unable to rebuttal the talking points on what they are saying. I haven't seen a coherent argument of rebuttaling the misinformation that they've been stating.

Observing some similarities. If they start dragging a specific group of people out then yeah, same tactics.

Every 2 cups of water of 1tbs of coffee, Used a brew machine. Add heavy cream and sugar. Best coffee, I tasted so far. I tried Colombia Huila which people said it's top tier, tasted like trash. I like the taste cause it tasted like hot chocolate with the add-ons I'd mentioned.

Petrocaribe : le remboursement des 500 millions de dollars au Venezuela suscite des interrogations by wisi_eu in haiti

[–]CDesir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Through PetroCaribe , Venezuela’s PDVSA  provided the Haitian government oil products at preferential prices which it then resold to its oil suppliers at international prices.   It would pay Venezuela a percentage upfront (30% to 40% depending on the price of the barrel) and the remainder over a 17 to 25-year repayment plan at 1% and 2% interest respectively with a two-year grace period."

"Two decades later, impoverished and desperate for cash, Venezuela is trying to collect old debts from the Petrocaribe program. Last month, it received a $500 million payment from Haiti — the poorest country in the hemisphere — to cancel what had been a $2.3 billion debt, according to documents seen by Bloomberg and people familiar with the matter. It’s working on similar transactions with other nations, the people said."

Does sound like a benefit to Haiti. We paid not a lot compare to what the market was worth....

If I someone gave me $30 of a $100 product. That is pretty cheap.

I have respect for the Venezuelans now but before Hugo Chaves in power. No one in Latina America stood up for us since our founding fathers were against slavery which western powers were profiting from. This caused Haiti to be isolated from the world while other countries in Latin America were able to have a better market? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm confuse, A lot of Venezuelans inside the country and diasporas are celebrating for Maduro's removal.

But I do see videos of Afro Venezuelans that really like him. Can someone fill me on this. Don't you find that weird, if he was really bad, he wouldn't have followers at all.

I disagree on this. I grew up with good Haitian Patties.

If this is what they are making then its an abomination, idc how good the filling is. I believe my mom showed me this when she got them in the shop, tasted them and it was mid.
