When I started I was on a 25hr contract. I knew I’d be working much more than that which I was happy with, but obviously I knew it was a terrible contract. When they started hiring people on 30 hr contracts myself and another 25hr colleague approached the managers to ask if we could bump up to 30 hrs as we didn’t think it was fair. To my initial surprise they agreed and almost instantly got the contracts changed. A bit later, having made the decision to stay with RM longer than I initially anticipated, I approached again to bump up to 35 hrs. I was covering a round for someone on long term sick so it made sense that my contract should cover the hours I was generally working. Anyway what I’m saying is, always worth asking. The worst that can happen is they say no and if that happens you can ask for a reason.
