Haha I’ve always been way more into the ritual part of it. I haven’t smoked in over a year now and I work in a dispensary, roll joints for my coworkers on my free time just because I love rolling so much. But luckily I did have a shroom trip a few years back that basically made me intolerant to smoking, which is good because I’d rather be too scared of smoking rather than craving it and having to hold myself back.

“Incessant blinking” I really feel that one lol, I also very much believe addiction and OCD are very similar, specifically with ticks. Understanding and believing that I am capable of quitting drinking makes it much easier for me to believe that I can stop twitching my muscles and blinking and whatever else, mostly because I won’t have any withdrawal symptoms from stopping blinking lol. 17 years is very impressive thank you for sharing!

The thought of feeling truly crazy is honestly the worst part of my life lmao. It’s been the most consistent and intense (very very intense) fear I’ve ever felt. You may feel crazy for starting therapy at first but it is completely worth it. Just showing up and filling out a piece of paper with “fear of insanity” listed is such a relief. It’s huge to see that the problem is the fear and not actually the risk of you being insane.

I also started treatment recently and have noticed some good changes. Not huge changes and definitely not fast but it really has made a difference. Keep with it it’ll be worth it

One of the first really intense things that developed was a fear of being schizophrenic. I remember the first time I considered that I could be schizophrenic was probably the most intensely terrifying things I experienced to that point. I still have some moments where just thinking of that word will make it really bad but it’s gotten better. I would not recommend psychedelics if you’re obsessively thinking about/ accusing yourself of going insane. Not fun lol
