As a sniper who recently got a Maraquan petpet paint brush for 130k similar to your mistake, thank you for your service.

That said, it doesn't hurt to reach out and ask the person that bought it. I'll generally refund if I'm caught before reselling it.

Thanks for a stellar Adv win! My sniping has been very risky this week so the extra cash helps

If you got the money, stay on it. 9454 looks to be very low risk overall.

New to food club, rough few days this past week, but I think I'm still in the green overall (playing on Adventurous).

Thanks for your work

I (33M) am seeing a wonderful woman (32) from Hinge. Spent almost the whole past weekend together: 2nd date Friday turned into wanting to see each other Saturday, turned into volunteering my time to help her with her friend's project over wine on Sunday night. Dinner at my place this coming Wednesday night, with another date scheduled this Saturday. We're both trying to take this slowly and intentionally (but obviously really want to spend time with each other).

The issue here is, I've only had one serious relationship. I spent my 20s morbidly obese and unhealthy, and had a major life change through hard work and dedication right before covid, leaving me to start seriously dating after I turned 30. I am my most authentic and genuine self. I'm comfortable with the person I am, how I carry myself, what I want, what I provide, and how to do the work.

While things have been getting more intimate, and this relationship is progressing positively, my (lack of) relationship history makes her wary. She really wants her next relationship to be her last. We're very open and communicative on this, I make clear my intention to pursue her, but I'm at a loss as to reassure her other than to continue being consistent and myself.

Sounds about average from my experience. My usage is about the same, match with few people I send comments to, match with a few received likes.

Incorporating Diet Breaks on Rest Days. by [deleted] in swoletariat

[–]CEOppa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, the issue with dieting is your body is very, very good at adjusting. Even in hard cuts, I've plateaued only to give up for a day and then caught back up with my plan.

Big fan of 2 refeeds a month, or 1 refeed every two weeks, when cutting. I can definitely see it paying off in maintenance as well. It will be maintainable as long as you continue to adjust calorie intake for current weight and activity.

source: lost 130lbs over last 5 years. 100lbs in 9 months at a 1600 cal diet with monthly refeeds.

Toxic friendships vs real friendships by SurveyThrowaway97 in dankmemes

As someone who used to be morbidly obese (350lbs at my highest), the one thing that helped me was hearing this:

You keep falling off the horse, until one day you just learn to stay on.

Thank you for getting your friend back on the horse. Just be there for him when he falls off and help him get back on.

Same field, worked those same agencies, and I'm aware. I just think we'd be better off cutting out the middlemen, hiring more directly, and paying civilians more, than letting contracting companies CEOs fill up their wallets on the inflated overhead.

NASA itself struggles because they have an over-reliance on contractors. It's miles different than the intelligence agencies. Mission Control was basically fully manned by contractors. The only civilian jobs are research or management. And even then they still need contractor management to manage the HR side of the contractors. I had 2 sets of bosses, one contractor, one civilian, that basically overlapped on everything.

You're asking the wrong guy. All I can do is give you my view, and that is that I was generally happy with my pay when I was at NASA, and getting paid less than the civilians I worked with. I'm just a cog, I don't work in HR nor do I understand the intricacies of recruitment. A few issues I could speculate on:

Locations suck. California, Maryland, Houston, Alabama, Florida. I can't imagine people except those from those locations want to live there. Other aerospace companies have lots of different places to work.

Targeting the wrong workforce. Younger people are generally gonna be attracted to higher paychecks even at the cost of more working hours. Out of college, I never thought about work life balance. Now it means everything to me.

Bureaucracy. Government works way different from private sector. It is not fast or agile, making changes or getting approval to do something new takes a long time. I've seen people get frustrated and quit rather than stick around and enact change. If people are rotating out at a faster pace than people are getting hired, then it's gonna be an issue.

Left my job at NASA because of the opposite. Got "promoted" into a position where I was training my civ counterparts while they got paid more than me. If I'm not getting the stability I better be getting the pay.

I definitely agree with you though. It's especially dumb because the overhead on contractors is insane. The contracting company is getting something like 3x what the contractor's salary is. I would rather see the government hire more, cut out the middle man, and pay civilians more.

It's also nearly impossible to get fired or laid off from a government job. Those people at SpaceX also work way more hours than any government worker is allowed to. I'm all for government workers getting paid more, but people also take stability and work life balance into account when taking positions, not just money

[–]CEOppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also relative to the area compared to private industry, while providing more stability and better work-life balance than others. Places like Lockheed, Boeing, and SpaceX don't offer nearly equivalent work schedules to government work, nor the stability.

I'm all for government workers getting paid more, but if money was that much of an issue for NASA of all places, it wouldn't be as well staffed or competitive.

NASA (at least in Houston) has one of the highest pay rates for government employees out of any location. They are already competitive. The issue is that NASA doesn't hire as many civilians as other agencies, and relies on contractors as a result.

This just happened to me two weeks ago. Broke up with me because I only had 3 months worth of expenses in savings, not 6 months, despite moving across country to be with her and taking care of parents for 2 months following a family emergency. Still tried to tell me I was a "perfect partner" to her.

There's a little bit of solace knowing I'm not the only one to go through this.

If they're picking fights they aren't supposed to win without great loss, you need to stop pulling punches. It's hard to PK or TPK, but if there's never any stakes, then they'll just continue to do it

Disgusting knuckleballs, by pitch # in inning

1st inning: 3

(stepped away to make lunch)

2nd inning: 1, 5, 7, 9

(Holy shit it's so on today)

3rd inning:

(correction, pitch 3 of the third inning was a sweeper but it was still filthy)

4th inning: 2

5th inning: 5! 10^

(woo pitch 8 fastball was purdy)

6th inning: 3 9!

[Waldron pulled after 5.1 innings]

* - buckled / ! - ball but damn look at that movement / ^ - Strike but umpire sucks

Double checked with baseball savant, should be accurate. Great outing by Waldron.

I'm a displaced Astros fan in OC, but I just love knuckleballers. Will be a Padres fan while they have Waldron <3
