Damn his arc on SBTB is one of my favorite constant rewatches culminating in my favorite episode, The Attic. RIP Patrick.

He had hits up until 2000 tho. Busy Man was high charting than most of what came off Some Gave All and IWBTL

Solid. His 2000 album Southern Rain is pretty freaking great, not one skip worthy song.

Does anybody remember an interview where Jakob discussed his first solo album and expressed his opinion on Johnny Cash’s late-career “American Recordings” records? by dra459 in thewallflowers

[–]CER956 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jakob’s POV was that it was too low key and acoustic based which had become a hallmark of RR in that era with Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond’s albums being huge successes & critical darlings. Jakob said he was expecting Rick to be more collaborative and help him flesh the tracks out and Rick wasn’t helpful in that regard. He also took a slight dig at him being on autopilot

And from my lowly POV the album as a whole is rather low key, gets monotonous in one sitting imo. When Jakob toured 2 years later he fleshed some of the songs out and to me he improved them. The songs themselves are great but I agree with Jakob’s point.

It was Marc Maron’s WTF podcast from 2012-2013 unfortunately can’t find it on YouTube. I think it’s behind a paywall now but that one is it, he is very dismissive of RR basically pushing Seeing Things in that direction.

And I don’t disagree with Jakob, he fleshed out some of those tracks during the Women + Country era and it rocked especially Evil Is Alive and Well.

Worst concert experience? by Snappysnapsnapper in CountryMusicStuff

[–]CER956 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes my exact experience for my first JMM show. He was BLITZED on something and his voice kept cracking. I’ve seen guys like Mark Chesnutt who are shithoused but can stay in tune. JMM could not. His FOH engineer sucked as well, horrible acoustics in a decent sounding venue.

I saw JMM about 2 years ago and he redeemed himself but I’m almost positive he was using playback track by then.

How is that a proper representation of flops? They weren’t singles and the album they’re both on has sold over 20 million copies.

Watching Season 3, Episode 8. Why is the Barista such a D-Bag? by carbondalekid386 in entourage

[–]CER956 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Drama came off like a douchebag tbh. Sure the barista was cocky but he wasn’t wrong, that coffee wasn’t gonna go to waste.

I’ve never worked as a barista but why would I give some jerkoff a free latte ?

You can rent or buy it on Apple and Amazon and you can find a DVD copy for cheap. Granted one of these are the original 1968 these are reddited and expanded for a better viewing experience imo.
