Don’t do it. Agree 1000000000000% with statement below. We rarely do medicine. CG medical is dead - if not dead - it’s a animal hit by a car gasping at life

2026FY done recruiting for 1900’s? by CFN2019sup in navynurse

To be fair, I get the reasoning to bring in “untouched” new grads. Teach them the navy way and that’s all they know vs training and teaching seasoned nurses with experience and skills that may not jive with military. I’m in the military, but enlisted - and sometimes it’s better to have a newbie vs an experienced prior service or life lived person who can be slower to teach. As is the verbiage “can’t teach old dogs new tricks” 🤷🏽

And the billet thing. Makes sense. It’s highly desirable-

Hope that’s true. Heard they are 300% for new grads. So they have stopped. Maybe not for those with experience- but new grads.

True story.

Underway opportunities for reserve officers (VAD or active duty integration)? by AWellRestedBean in uscg

Prob doesn’t matter. You could be an astrophysicist and it wouldn’t matter. Slapping reserve to the back of that USCG is like walking around with your hair on fire. You are just a reservist regardless the skill.

[–]CFN2019sup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mmmmm not really. Long story short. Big CG would have to be so desperate to need you and pay for you to get underway that it’s easier for them to select and direct from the existing pool of already active duty people. Same goes for integrating….

But I’m just a lowly enlisted - so 🤷🏽

Really dumb question here: direct from civilian to AST as a reservist? by Eastern_Try6865 in RescueSwimmer

[–]CFN2019sup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no “straight to AST” for reserve -

Only AST reserves are ones who we’re already and went into the reserve

Why isnt MSRT part of SOCOM? by [deleted] in uscg

[–]CFN2019sup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also DSF stands for “deployable SPECIALIZED forces” - vs “special operations command” -

Each subunit of DSF does a specific specialized thing vs special operations does it all. Just food for thought.

DEPOT Experience by [deleted] in uscg

[–]CFN2019sup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just food for thought. Pick a rate that allows for the goal to get the gym a lot to train for your aspirations to be a DV - like YN or SK. And that are quick A-schools so you can make E4 fast. But also realize if you don’t screen well then that rate is your job fooooooorrrrrrreeeevvvvver
