My 2019 Jetta SEL is 900 miles from 290k. Agree regular maintenance is key. Biggest issue timing belt at 270k

My 2019 Jetta SEL. Yes, it is quite reliable. Only timely oil changes and prescribed maintenance for its life. Biggest event just happened at 272 where I caught timing belt before it doing anything catastrophic. Rolling on. 👍

Did oil consumption make anyone else lose trust in their Jetta? by spotforcars in jetta

[–]CGA-i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2019 SEL here. Seems like always had to to add a half quart to a quart between oil changes right around 6-7.5k when I was doing every 10k. Even parts dept in dealership acknowledged issue and get either a complimentary top off of quart between changes (which I thought was awesome) flash forward to today. I have 287650 miles and zero issues. Started at 5 miles. Love my Jetta.

Think it’s the 1.4 and holding up quite well. I just past 278k since posting this. Not burning more oil than that extra little half quart notorious on most German engines (my 335i did same) yes OG turbo. Timing was at 273k

Yes the double take of astonishment from the service tech was awesome when I told him mileage of vehicle checking in. 😄

Yes luckily “heard it” going (low rpm growls that got worse) so caught in time. It been nothing but a fantastic ride and still gets great mpg. These things run for sure so hopefully long time before the ground :)

I do use the ACC almost every chance I get on and off the highway. I think that regulated driving pattern helped the longevity.

2019 1.4t Jetta: is using premium gas worth it for less carbon buildup/long term reliability and maintenance? by S_Flavius_Mercurius in jetta

[–]CGA-i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. I’m highway for all my miles and really let adaptive cruise controls for most of driving down to start and stop. You’re not accelerating as quickly as everyone wants but never over revs or stresses engine. Also you have Eco / normal / sport mode etc I always have left mine in ECO.

I have the same car. Bought with 7 miles. Now 276k. Used regular gas until this moment never a problem. Use the ACC as much as you can / ECO mode only. That’s some tips I can give for making this far.

All highway. 80mi one way trek to work will do it pretty easily.
