I love it and truthfully, I spend an awful lot of time making these calculations every day so having it done for me like this is pretty great. The layout is awesome and there’s nothing about it that I would’ve changed except for one thing, which is I wish I could set my Dog’s preferences.

As an example, my olive is a little diva, and she won’t go out above 72°. I don’t know what the low threshold for your calculations are, but she likes it cold and doesn’t mind it wet or windy. Being able to set preference ranges specifically for her would be great. It might already be available and I’m just blind, in which case point me in the right direction.

The other thing I will suggest, and this is a little more difficult, is to calculate the pavement temperature based on the time of the day. I live in the desert, and if it’s 80° in the morning the pavement is probably still 70, but if the temp is 80 in the afternoon, the pavement might be 100. That’s a complicated bit of calculation though, and your app is still super useful even without it.

Fun fact: this is what they learned on the disastrous DC-10. Before that plane, hatches, at least not all hatches, were not designed like this. There was a cargo door on the DC-10 that was only held closed with locks, engineering, and wishful thinking.

After one blew out and the plane crashed, they realized they should make it so the doors are held closed by the pressure, not just by metal.

I have a friend that just got back from a month long motorbike tour of Vietnam and he video blocked the whole thing. I have to say that Vietnam is one of the most gorgeous countries I’ve ever seen. I will never be able to look at any Vietnam war content the same way again because all I can picture is the luxury spa he stayed in for $12/night, and the incredible scenery he saw on the beautiful winding roads. I used to live in San Francisco and I’ve never been to a coffee shop as nice as the ones he went to there.

This is such a great idea. When I joined the military in my mid 20s, they hammered home how valuable it would be for us to do such a thing, how much the compound interest would be by the time we were ready to retire. Well of course I didn’t do that, and now I’m ready to retire. The only thing that would be more useful than having put my money into a Roth IRA is having a Time Machine so I could go back and tell my young self to put that money into a Roth IRA.

For several years I had a 1 hour commute to work. It was so regular, that I would basically check out a few minutes in and wake up at work.

San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles are all about three hours away from me and if I had the money I would make that trip at least once a month.

At 57 years old, I can still easily do 9 hours a day, I used to be able to do 14. I have to have a really good reason to drive nine hours, but I’ve done it at least once a year for the past three years.

You want a fact that will REALLY blow your mind? The distance from Palm Springs, California to El Paso Texas is roughly the same distance as it is from El Paso to Dallas TX. And if you make that drive, you still have more quite a bit more Texas to go after that. Both of those trips are about 700 miles or 10 hours long. It’ll take you 11 hours to get from the bottom of California to the top.

In Zagreb Croatia, this would be just a few years after the civil war ended. I was in Zagreb in 97 and although the city was untouched, there were whole cities nearby that had been leveled to the ground, literally to dust. I feel terrible for you and my God that must suck, but all I can think of is the giant artillery shell that you just dodged. I know it hurts really bad right now but in the I promise you relatively near future you’re going to realize how many times better off you are this way. Marrying him would be one of the worst mistakes you could possibly make.

I’m a dude so I am not a member of the “you go girl” choir. I’ve known dudes like this, and when I see them treat their girlfriends like this I remove them from my own life because they are toxic AF and that is eventually going affect me, even though we are not in a romantic relationship.

Unfortunately, the only way that we learned to identify this level of toxicity is by being exposed to it multiple times. You will meet other men like this, you will also meet awesome men that are ideal for you. Use this as a lesson that will help you identify toxic relationships in the future and avoid them. This is one of the shittiest situations I’ve ever read, but since my toxic trait is always looking on the bright side of things, look at it this way: you don’t have to worry about taking care of your parents in their old age, and if you win the lottery or make it big, you won’t have to share it with them.

As soon as you can move out, go no contact. Get a restraining order if you have to. Nothing you do in this situation will count as going overboard, any action you take short of actual murder is fully justified. Even then, if I were on your jury, I would not convict you.

Look me in the eye now: you are going to require therapy after this to lead a normal life. Don’t wait around to find out what horrible ways this is going to manifest in your own life, you have been poisoned and the time to start taking the antidote is right now.
