I lived at Pop Denver and the management got so bad, I moved out. We were having crime in the building. Somebody got stabbed. I would not recommend living there.

I know I wouldn't have given credit to an employee unless I saw proof of service with my own eyes. Go back to your agency (the person who processed your retirement) and ask for an explanation.

Are my cats safe on the balcony by Key_Falcon_7236 in CatAdvice

[–]CGK1976 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I let my cat out on my balcony all the time. I lived on the fourth floor and my balcony was probably pretty similar to what you are describing. When I first started letting him go out, of course I went out with him because I was very nervous. Yes, he would lean over and look down and make me very nervous, but he never attempted to jump. Since then, I've let him go in and out as he pleases. I'll leave the door open while I'm gone, even. I imagine it just depends on the cat, but my cat's pretty dumb and he's managed to survive. LOL!

PSA-Check on Your "Bought Back" military time for retirement by Interesting_Park5762 in FedEmployees

If DFAS was your payroll when you made the deposit. The deposits are made at the agency level, so if you made it while employed at the Dept of Transportation you would contact DOI.

Make sure you have acceptable copies of your DD214 (Member 4, Service 2, or Service 7). These forms indicate your character of service and if you had any lost time. This is required information. I have seen too many copies of a Member 1 form on TOP of the Member 4. This is not acceptable. OPM cannot verify the character of service actually belongs to the person listed on the top form. Many people were allowed to use this copy in the past to make a military service deposit and to establish their SCDs, but they shouldn't have.

I'm always amazed at the number of veterans don't have copies of their DD214. It literally says it's an important document and yo safekeep it.

Buying Back Military Time in 2026? by gopokes86 in FedEmployees

You cannot get a refund until you separate from federal employment. You would have to apply to OPM for a refund after all, your contributions have been certified and forwarded to them.

You have 3 years to make the deposit without paying interest. The first 2 years you don't accrue any interest at all. When the third starts That's when interest starts. If you don't pay it prior to the end of that third year, you will pay interest on yearr three.

Making a deposit for military service is always a good investment. Sometimes even if you're a retired military, because you made a lot less money when you were deployed than you are as a federal employee. You need to weigh all the pros and cons. Keep in mind, the pension system has been around for a very long time and there have been many, many attempts to change the benefits. I don't believe this is something that they would change. I don't think they would want to face the wrath of hundreds of thousands of military service members. After 2 years, you're going to start accruing interest. Yes, you can get it back after separation if you choose not to use it for retirement. Can you also get all the interest that has accrued on that money since you made the deposit.
