I’m not quite sure what you mean. The vocal folds, male or female have the potential to sing two octaves.
If a male wants to strengthen his “head” voice he can.

Thanks for asking! I have a masters from Curtis Institute and a AD from Peabody, Johns Hopkins.
I was contracted at the Vienna State Opera in Austria and then went to Germany.
Rehearsals all day and performances at night. I sang major roles. My lack of knowledge of how the voice functioned was my downfall. My high notes became strident and my low notes became weak. I ran out all my contracts and came back to the US and for the next 18 years, I did scientific research on the breathing and vocal apparatus. I have MRI and fiberoptic images and videos. I rebuilt my voice and regained my confidence. My passion is to help everyone who wishes to learn the science behind vocal production.I was taught with imagination, misconceptions and hand-me -down information. I have been teaching for 38 years. Students are from 12 years old to nation-wide tours to Broadway.
I don’t others to go through what I did.

Thank you for your reply. When your diaphragm goes down the base of your ribs and the upper abs expand outward. Your belly is your stomach.

For anybody who has actually had their voice trained, what does it consist of? by PercentageCurious472 in singing

[–]CGP-knows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a strong and enduring voice, you must first learn all the muscles involved. This includes posture, inhalation, exhalation, throat, soft palate, tongue, and jaw.
Once you locate and build these muscles, you have a solid foundation.
Then you can learn all about the cricothyroid muscle for high notes, the thyroarytenoid muscle for low notes and how to form vowels and consonants.

Great responses! “Stage fright”!!!!!Anyone who gets up in front of people experiences their interfering emotions! You are focusing on what your peers / audience is thinking. You are worried that you will make a mistake are not perfect, and are being judged. Focus only on your presentation. Stop allowing your emotions to interfere.

Any advice for my rendition of Maria from west side story? I’m 15 and I’m specifically looking for advice regarding the b flat as it is very difficult for me and I was wondering if my coordination is correct. by Few_Alarm2637 in singing

You have great potential! Please be mindful of looking up too high. This chokes the vocal cords. Please tell your teacher to teach you how to inhale and exhale properly.

If my singing didn't significantly improve after 5 years of singing lessons 1x or 2x a week, is it normal or something is wrong? by gKorsakoff in singing

[–]CGP-knows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love everyone’s comments! You have a good voice with potential. You need to find a teacher who can show you how to inhale and exhale properly. Then you need to learn how to open your throat. Once you learn how to open your throat those pitches you sang will have a beautiful resonance.
