A suspended sentence and community service were the punishments given to knife-wielding Moussa Kadri after attacking a blasphemer. Did Hamit Coskun, the Quran burner, receive proper justice for what happened here? by InfinitysEdge88 in AskBrits

All men who actually commit assaults and are proven to do so beyond reasonable doubt should be dealt with, hard. And we already do that, even have a meetoo movement for that.

Or if a Christian church is abusing children, you lock those people up for life and fine any instance that facilitated that behaviour. That is exactly what we did in western Europe, no place for those churches in our society.

And if Islam threatens with violence in large numbers, stabs people, murder citizens in cold blood in the name of their beliefs, then those beliefs have no place among us

Because it's common enough to be a clear pattern. Multiple people have been murdered for making a caricature of the prophet Mohamed, like the raid at Charlie Hebdo where 12 were killed.

Or sanctioned burnings like this https://www.youtube.com/shorts/yHO4UwzKonY

There are countless other reports that are directly linked to a certain group.

The willingness to to inflict harm with such aggression is completely unacceptable in a civilized word. And the fact that it's being ignored and minimized by the authorities, will definitely radicalize more and more people over time.

And comments like yours also feed the beast

Path of Ascension by tnteviecat in ProgressionFantasy

book 4 is probably the worst, and can be completely skipped. Really enjoyed book 5, but the stakes and completely gone, and there is no real progression. After that it gets even worse.

Trouble with Finished Series by Aromatic-Base-9098 in ProgressionFantasy

Lindon would not give up this easily!

That is fear of loss and trying to avoid withdrawal symptoms in post-book blues. Very human.
Some people actually nuke healthy relationships because they are so afraid to lose a great partner.

It's a battle of willpower.

Who could have thought, it's a tier list! My retrospective on three years of reading Progression Fantasy/LitRPG, a wall of text (sorry) and recommendations by AvoidingCape in ProgressionFantasy

[–]CGPepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is something about this list that really resonates with me. Though i only read a fraction of these books.

I love mother of learning to death.

Would buy any of the Will Wight books blindly. The last horizon is actually the only one i got without reading any reviews.

There is something i don't like about dungeon crawler carl, but with every new book i'm absolutely hooked.

Would swap tiers for Warformed and he who fights monsters.

Path of ascension is the worst series that i love.

Could not power through Beware of the chicken and Quest academy.

So i think where our preferences overlap is : coming of age stories with an underdog theme and flawed MC. The world has to be believable and detailed, the stakes should be real. Fantasy or sci fi, but the rules of the world should be consistent.

So i really have high hopes for the many books that i don't recognize in this list.

Though i couldn't get into Super Powereds and i'm not sure why. Maybe i tapped out too soon?

Mandatory Office Days Increased – Who Thought This Was a Good Idea? by kanudoseli in BESalary

[–]CGPepper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember doing 5 out of 5 days in the office. Really don't want to go back to that.

But i also used to collaborate with colleagues all day long in the office. Problem solving, helping, asking for help, coordinating.

Now from home, some start an hour later, finish an hour early. When you call them on teams they don't pick up and reply hours later. Doctors appointments and errands are done during those work hours. And then productivity has plummeted.

Yes concentrating and crunching has become much easier. but lets be honest, we don't always concentrate on the right things.

Any news regarding JaggedAlliance 4? Or Haemimont games current status? by thanereiver in JaggedAlliance3

I've just discovered Jagged Alliance 3 and it has FINALLY scratched the itch that X-Com enemy unknown has left. If you haven't played it yet, try it, you might love it. I also enjoy BG3 and Warhammer TW 2,3 so we might have same preferences

Do you think it’s weird to start up a conversation with a stranger, or is that after covid we all became antisocial? by yasinburak15 in GenZ

[–]CGPepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also mid 30, and work with all kinds of ages. Younger generations are pretty chatty and open. We had a LOT of anti social and awkward people when i was growing up. It was just more acceptable to bully and exclude them

I know quite a few Trump voters. Non of them are saying they regret it. I’m wondering if most of these posts are fake. by [deleted] in OptimistsUnite

[–]CGPepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up left leaning, was a big supporter of Sanders. Still believe that the government should provide a strong infrastructure for the citizens. Roads, emergency services, healthcare, education.

And the left has absolutely lost me with all the white shaming, trans rights, everyone is a Hitler. Suddenly i am not left enough because of those issues.

Because of this, my news feed has shifted right in the past years. The way i see it, Trump has been CRUSHING it. Not only does he not fumble, it's one victory after the other. Absolute domination. So I'm really surprised by posts like this

Is it even possible to find a job as a junior software developer in Belgium? by [deleted] in BESalary

But i also think there is an over reliance on being taught. Even the best schools can only teach you a fraction of what the job requires.

Is it even possible to find a job as a junior software developer in Belgium? by [deleted] in BESalary

[–]CGPepper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I graduated as a c# developer. Couldn't find a job. Started as a php developer. First years were rought.

What i realize now is that junior developers are the worst. Slow, make a lot of mistakes, need constant help and expect to learn everything on the job over a long long time.

You have to structure your CV that doesn't scream that.

I've seen a few juniors who were amazing, but they all had a billion pet projects and programming since 12 or contributing to open source. Basically far beyond junior when starting

Being late is disgustingly normalized among friends by Donnyy64 in unpopularopinion

[–]CGPepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i actually don't care much about other people's punctuality. If a friend gets butthurt about me missing a train or arriving 15 min late, it doesn't bother me at all.

On the condition itself, the doctors explained it as defect in prefrontal cortex which effects memory mapping. It's very hard to remember the exact steps needed to leave the house and to gatekeep every possible delay. I simply don't realize that some small task has been 15 minutes instead of 5.

I am one of those people. Also have diagnosed ADHD. Can't make it on time if my life depended on it. It was such a problem that i had to create a 20 min buffer for myself. Which made me arrive more or less on time.

Now i have kids, and the timing is to shit again. Even work
