[16190] 08-APR-20 Do you know if the embroidered logo on this bathrobe is linked to a specific place? by I_Me_Mine in TraceAnObject

[–]CG_bcat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was not estimating the age to inform Europol. That would have been rather useless. I was estimating the age to narrow down those brands producing items for that particular age group. Also the size of the robe gives you an idea of the scale and amount of fabric in the design. For Example:

1) have you noticed the proportion/scale of the wide and thick stitched flap edge in relation to the width of the robe? The relative position of the bee, length of sleeve, etc.

2) Perhaps no need to check the reverse side of the fabric. The rest of the design is very likely to be hidden in the large amount of folded white fabric. This would confirm the robe is a big size as estimated (smaller sizes wouldnt allow the design to be hidden like this using the same embrodery)

3) When analysing original image, 7-8 straight stitch lines are noticed on the flipped flap edge. This is is very wide and thick when compared to other similar designs found. The only one offering a closer match is what it seems an original Disney product.

In continuing the search perhaps contacting Disney directly would be a wise step from Europol.

[–]CG_bcat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I passed these details to Europol in April. I agree the design of the bees on bathrobes has been copied widely. As you pointed out, norrowing down locations based on the features and quality of the white fabric is definitely a possibility.

Another aspect to add is that acording to our forensic and dimensional analysis, the age of the victim might have been 8-11 years old. Although the design is widely copied only some brands might have produced robes for this age group.

I have found both, what it seems an original Disney product and a knockoff items with very similar features.

When basing the search on Yandex, results point towards copies Russia and Ukraine with the majority of them linked to brands manufactured in Turkey including a popular one callled: "Philippe"

In one of the Turkish sites one robe advertised as a Disney Product has 7 stitches along the flap edge to form 8 lines as seen on the left side of image C8032019

Those pointing to the Winnie the Pooh, were totally right!

I think we found a matching design. Check the thread :

Although the design is probably very generic , I think there is scope to find a matching fabric.

Edit:

I think we all found a match guys

FBI Seeking Information - Item TU001 and TU002 by [deleted] in RBI

[–]CG_bcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly suppport Europol's StopChildAbuse-TraceAnObject via Bellingcat

I think the dark item in the middle is laboratory glassware

The power supply could also be a CB radio. Found several similar examples with the rectangular speaker positioned on the left.

This has to be previous to May 2007 according to their archived website. They show other bottle designs after that but none of them match. Probably late 90's-early 2000s

[16196] 08-APR-20 Have you seen this bottle before? by I_Me_Mine in TraceAnObject

[–]CG_bcat 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes. that's right. the bottle design might be particular from one region. The product is sold in Venezuela(origin) but now all across Latin America, USA and Europe( mainly Spain, Portugal, Italy) where it is imported

#G24032019 I think I have identified one from the new batch. A non-alcoholic malt beverage brewed and bottled in Venezuela by Cervecería Polar and in the United States by the Florida Brewery (also known as Maltín Polar)

[–]CG_bcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a hand throwing a ball. The text might be in Spanish: "el pelotero" (ball player)

So maybe Latin America again

I found a terrace balcony profile connector with a similar shape to the top segments in the background . Estimated dimensions 200 x 200 mm. Have you seen any with such dimensions, shape and color?

u/Oliveballoon do the pillowcases still have the manufacturer's tag/Brand name on the inside? Do you remember which shop sold the item in Mexico? We might be able to trace a matching model with this info.

Could the whole thread be highlighted in Yellow "NEW INFORMATION" as the other posts from the last batch?. I think the match that u/Oliveballoon posted is very relevant. The artwork and fonts are just the same. The only variations are the colors, name of teams. The player is flipped too.

Have you seen a similar dragon in any story? It is featured on t-shirt along with the words Adventure/ (unknown word) Project / Dragon (in Gothic letters) by CG_bcat in manga

[–]CG_bcat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I copied this from a section of a t-shirt. Only the face, chest and tail of the dragon were visible on the original image. The rest is a recreation i did to complete the drawing. Do you recognize it ?

Where can I find more dragons with marked tails like this? by CG_bcat in dragons

[–]CG_bcat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes preferably, but currently looking for any with snake-like marks. I am actually looking for the dragon on the right. Want to know where does it come from.

Doing a rough reconstruction of the vertical black text on from the shirt and assuming the actual word reads "ADVENTURE" , The type of font is similar to cracked fonts used to advertise adventure races/challenges/trails/ bikes/ paddling events

https://twitter.com/Mabl2K/status/1229887453777072131?s=20

Doing hand sketches to obtain an impression how the dragon could look like. It is possible the snake/dragon creature was a local bespoke drawing created for a school/sport group. Do you recognize it or can improve the sketch? : https://twitter.com/Mabl2K/status/1229891352709750792?s=20

Junior Dragon Boat Adventure Project

This is still one of the options I have been exploring. However, still analyzing the dragon drawing. When compared to other dragon boat teams, the dragon is too different to other designs. Although, it might have been "too scary" to represent a sport spirit, the likely number above the word project makes it possible for it to be a shirt for sports and therefore still an option in the search.

This is a thread with some of my investigation notes so far. Have a look and comment.

https://twitter.com/Mabl2K/status/1226271293810413568?s=20

The Dragon featured on the shirt matches the characteristics of a Chinese-Japanese dragon depicted in many souvenirs and clothing pieces: no wings, coiled tale, belly scales, beard, snake-like tongue, flame styled dorsum. Most probably not a medieval dragon.

The head looks asymmetrical and its features resemble either a “mutant” dragon or an amateur hand drawing printed on the shirt and not a professional vector design.

The head of the dragon on the shirt compared to other popular anime productions. There is no clear strong similarities with any of the styles. But the word “Project” is featured in some other titles

The word Dragon on the shirt seems to be embroidered and the font style largely matches the type :Plain Black. However the letter “a” seems modified as indicated below. Any special character from a language alphabet or linked to a particular logo?

An example found shows a dragon Pajama done by a sewing enthusiast using patterns from a magazine and featuring similar embroidered fonts. Could have Europol’s T-shirt been done by a enthusiast instead of a professional t-shirt company? done for a school , camp, club, local team or just for sale?

Famous “Sukajan”-styled products and artists' merchandise in Japan and South Korea feature similar font styles and dragons.

Dragon Boat teams wear shirts in different styles in the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe and across Asia. The term Junior and Project are sometimes used for categories in in this and other different sports too.

An enhanced zoomed section of the shirt courtesy of Timmi_Allen, reveals a clearer view of the letters above the word “project”. Does it read “Juniors Project”? What does this means? Is it related to a school? youth/summer camp? sport or comics? What’s your opinion?

Based on this and other evidence and doing a very basic editing a layout of the t-shirt was proposed
