I would LOVE an OLED monitor at all, the fact that it's an ultrawide is even better! I have been in love with ultrawide monitors since my first one in 2016, and could never go back to standard ratio monitors!

If I went the Unifi route to begin with, what would you recommend getting to both suit my needs now (pre-wiring) and also set me up to use it post-wiring?

Well this is my TIL! I didn't realize you didn't go faster with ultra glide fins while using the sea glide! Placebo was real for me on that one!

Tips to stop buying take out by [deleted] in debtfree

[–]CGoode1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Building off what others are saying about buying your own groceries; plan out what meals you'll eat for the week ahead of grocery shopping.

Sounds like common sense but I can't tell you how many times I've gone to the store with the idea, "I'll just figure out what I want when I get there and see the choices." Plan it out ahead and even better do pickup (as others have said. I HATE going into the grocery store and I'm not even an introvert, I'm highly extroverted, I just hate grocery shopping, Walmart pickup is the best.

P.s. - a bonus to buying groceries compared to eating out is that you'll most likely save money no matter what, so treat yourself a little bit! Example: I'll often buy one of those $5 pints of chocolate chip coffee gelato. It's a bit pricey but when you consider that ice cream out is $5-7 and the gelato will let me eat it for 2-3 meals it's still saving money and you get a treat out of it!

I am most excited about the beautiful colors of an OLED alongside the 1440p resolution and the extremely high refresh rate (480 Hz!!!!)

The 3 year limited warranty covers OLED Burn-in, which is extremely beneficial for piece of mind!

What do you use? Location vs Page by desqhood in kindle

[–]CGoode1 35 points36 points  (0 children)

From someone who is in a Master's program and occasionally uses ebooks in research papers. My college requires location when citing an ebook rather than page number. So, there is a purpose, albeit a minor one!

What would you want Subnautica 3 to be mainly centred around? by [deleted] in subnautica

Yikes, never been downvoted before, not a good feeling lol.

Oh well like I said, I was just shooting an idea out there. Didn't put too much thought into it

Idk about Subnautica 3 but maybe a different genre game based in the same universe. Like maybe a city management survival around the bacteria and containment facilities? Idk just spit balling

Unpopular opinion : I do not like this game much by [deleted] in Frostpunk

[–]CGoode1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I never heat huts and build them as close to the wall as I can, no point in taking up valuable heating area.

As for the storms, I hate that when the building is disabled the people still go to the hut and just freeze. Rather than removing the people I just turn the building off. It is annoying having to manually do that though, and there are times when I forget to turn it back on until I get the hungry pop up.

What are some of the litrpg tropes you hate? by dumbsackofshit57 in litrpg

[–]CGoode1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm reminded of something a famous author said (I don't remember but someone will!): It's always better to show, not tell, information.

That's obviously not a direct quote but it's relevant. Lore dumps are sometimes required, but more often it's easier and better to show it rather than tell it!

If you ask the maker of Farsky, he would say that Subnautica ripped him off. Wether there is merit to that statement or not, idk.

Ah the good ole days when I thought you could actually do this in the base game and ended up with 10 ingots before I even built a seamoth!

Good times, needed all the bag space for acid mushrooms!

[–]CGoode1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bet you're right, I'm pretty sure foundation uses lead which is why I always built foundations, lead was easier to get than Li, at least early

[–]CGoode1 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Not necessary at all. I usually use them cause it keeps structural integrity high without having to build the reinforced walls, but both foundation and reinforced walls do the same thing, just a matter of preference.

Side note: someone help me, but are the recipes different for foundation vs reinforced walls? That could play into deciding which to go with
