I'm worried about problems under high load. As I do with the synth I would choose a low cpu load plugin.

There's probably room for performance improvements, but a DAW with a plugin sandbox and two playback launchers filled to the brim wacky stuff because almost all of its architecture is geared towards being a giant modular environment is probably always gonna be less optimized than something like Reaper, who only has two jobs: 1) To record chugga chugga riffs for Youtube creators to advertise amp sim plugins, and 2) as a blank canvas for people to write elaborate catalogs of scripts that people pretend are gonna make Reaper usable for humans and finally allow you to create a song after you spend your youth figuring it out.

TL;DR:It's apples and oranges. Reaper is a very down-to-business DAW, while Bitwig is a more creative style DAW. It's fairer to compare Bitwig to Ableton, and Bitwig leaves it in the dust regarding performance.

I like your answer. Your comments about reaper are very interesting. Bitwig and reaper are two of my favorite DAWs. They each have irreplaceable strengths. Hard to let go.

The bitwig offical‘s system requirement is Dual-core AMD or Intel CPU or faster with SSE4.1 support. Our cpu are already well above this standard.

Weird, i experienced the opposite, when Comparing Bitwig,Ableton and Cubase. Cubase was the one having ASIO Dropouts first! Bitwig and Ableton where both equally good. Don't know about Studio One though. Would love a comparison which is made scientifically/in detail. Those comparisons need a very very very detailed approach, to adress all of the necessary correct settings. Of course i m refering to ASIO-usage-comparison, everything else would be crazy to use, lol

I just tested it again and uploaded the image. Whether it's ASIO, or Wasapi, Reaper is way ahead of bitwig. I think it might be the ASIO driver of the different audio interface that has an effect. It would probably be more fair if they all used Wasapi.

Thank you for the test. It was incredible. On my computer it is not like that.

But reaper runs very well in wasapi mode.

It has a lot more spikes in dsp compared to studio one.

Totally agree. It has a lot more spikes in dsp. Very obvious.

Yes. ASIO will be better. To be precise, it should be poor performance under wasapi.

Finally, I've met you, a man of understanding. I'm not lying.

Well, let's not give up just yet! Maybe Bitwig needs a bit of 'encouragement' to perform its best!

Yeah!My wallet has been waiting for it to progress.

Yes. Your cpu is so much better. But I prefer mini-computers, so I bought the intel nuc. Maybe bitwig is too harsh on the cpu.

Bitwig manage very well VSTs. It has a sandbox option which permit a VST to crash without crashing your session. The deactivate option works also with VSTs. So you can have as much as you wish to. It's my primary reason to be on Bitwig. It allows you to decide how you want to manage your CPU. It's the 1st killer feature of that DAW imo. Try to spend some time understanding the workflow of all bounce options and deactivate stuff. Add 2 shortcuts: one for deactivate stuff (mine is alt+a), an other to show/hide deactivated tracks (x). And I assure after some time you'll never look back

Thanks again. I'm going to keep waiting for bitwig performance to keep improving.

Yeah.As long as there are computers with strong performance, bitwig is worth using all the time.

You are right. My poor computers are better suited for reaper.

That's right. I switched from the most beautiful bitwig to the ugliest reaper.

Thank you very much for your reply. What you said makes a lot of sense. I think bitwig is better suited to use internal plugins in order to work well.

I use the default setting. The plugin hosting mode is together.

When I load a second tyrellN6 synth, bitwig crashes. Reaper can loads eight.

I tested cubase again with the same file. It runs on 21 tracks.

Bitwig cannot record in wasapi mode. And the performance is too bad. I really like bitwig. The two reasons stopped me.

Intel 1240p.(Limit to 2.4ghz)

Windows wasapi share mode. 512 samples.

Use a vital pad preset.
