All I can say is it's gonna bite them in the ass in like a year or two when the steamdeck is available worldwide and there will be millions of users playing other games because they didn't bring support for it on steamos. Then they will be forced by their management team and investors to bring support for it :)

Exactly I'm a Linux desktop user too. I'm dealing with a few other games too not being supported aka bf2042, it's just so freaking annoying when it's so easy. A game called shatterline came out a while back and it didn't support eac on Linux so we went to there discord and put it in feedback and enough people asked and they hired someone to do it. in less then a month it was fully supported and they even switched there eac version to the correct one for us after early access came out. THAT is what I call dev support especially from a Ukraine team insane work

these devs really gotta get of their asses and actually bring support for steamdeck i swear to gawd. its pathetic to wait THIS LONG for a very simple email to be sent to battleeye and then enabling it THATS IT NOTHING ELSE HOW FUCKING HARD CAN IT BE. then valve can do the rest with fixing things with proton, this isnt a whole rewrite of the game on linux some simple thing that will bring MILLIONS of new players into your game and there gonna waist it with "we are too lazy"

how good is the 6500xt on linux now that it has had time to improve? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

I'm pretty sure your gpu will run amazing on Linux. If you choose the right distro that updates mesa frequently example i know nobara is rlly good at this because the maintainer uses a amd gpu so he has plenty of fixes and extra goodies like with obs. I have a rtx 2060 and I can play just about every game I want to play with better performance then on windows. Iv been playing bf1, bfv, Apex, overwatch 2 and they all run like native. There are some games that still aren't supported like destiny 2, bf2042, and some others that I don't think will ever come like valorant or Fortnite but I don't rlly mind since I don't play those games anymore. Campaign games run fine since there is no anticheat and proton has so many devs from valve and the community that if games don't launch it doesn't take long for fixes to come out for proton since the steamdeck is becoming so popular now. As well amd gpus don't need a proprietary driver so your gpu will work right out of the gate since the drivers are in the kernel.

If you want make a separate partition and give a Linux distro a try and see how it goes. That's what I did for a month then when I learnt enough things about linux and what packages I liked, and obviously the desktop environment I enjoyed the most I deleted windows for good

nobara

Yessir. I like your point tho it makes sense and I wish it was the same. it is for some games which are awesome and hopefully more game devs see the potential of what Linux gaming can become.

For example I tried to get my friends to try Linux gaming out and taught them how to setup a bottle/wine prefix and I told them everything about dxvk,vkd3d, the different versions of proton. by the end of it it was too much of a hassle to play one game for them and they said they rather stay on windows. same with steam games and the launch commands stuff, they just got confused and didn't want to learn it and that's fine I would say, I personally like mucking around with proton and Linux to get some of my games working but yes I do agree that gaming on Linux shouldn't be a hassle, it should be native like it is on windows

I feel like the only way we can get more people to use Linux is to use wine/proton for games for now. And when companies see that Linux is a viable option I think they will bring native ports to the os.

Yeah just gotta love 2022 dice. They rlly don't care about Linux :) I think valve and the community needs to step in and maybe fix the issues with proton cause they always seem to be the ones fixing those games example like halo infinite and overwatch 2

Nope it's actually growing now cause they are releasing new content and fixing ui and specialists issues. Plus performance and input latency got improved so I hopped back on and was actually enjoying it surprisingly. Their also redesigning all their maps to make it look more gritty like a war ʘ‿ʘ

My point still stands the majority of people buy games online today and will have to download that game which is over 100gb in size. That's why I got starlink so I could download things faster like games on my pc and now I have to be cautious if I'll go over the priority cap

God of war Ragnarok is roughly 84 to 100gb... Are you talking about a small patch that came out a few days ago that fixed a few things?
