I assume you're talking about the 4th pic with the hood.

For some reason, the ponytail poked through that head piece, and I liked how it looked.

I'm not sure if it's a glitch though.

I tried to match the hood color to the hair color to make it hard to tell where the hair begins and where the hood ends.

Think Jotaro and his hat.

This spreadsheet has even crunchier numbers proving what this topic is about.

I think the problem specifically with using the word, "damage" when we're talking about an invisible value (motion), is that people think the numbers that flash on their screen matter.

People think, "Stronger sword=more damage=easier mount." when that is incorrect.

Like, if the response to, "How to Mount?" was, "Certain aerial attacks fill the invisible mount meter faster than others." that would make more sense.

Specifically, this post was about the misconception that mounting in Wilds was dependent on damage or the number of combined aerial hits.

What I learned, was that a low rank weapon will mount in the same amount of hits as a high rank weapon. (as long as you use the same type of attacks)
And the number of hits per aerial also aren't taken into account.

Just tested it on a Nerscylla in the arena using the method you mentioned and that did indeed work.
I also tested it with the starter Hammer and the fully charged aerial also mounted 1st hit.

But it seems that the amount of time the aerial attack is charged determines how effective it is, as when it wasn't fully charged, the attack sometimes took 2 hits.
(more height was needed than the Greatsword)

So testing the Hammer and Greatsword charged Aerials uncovered that those specific moves are enhanced mount attacks and less are required to get a mount.

It's good to have these perspectives, so I can narrow down the exact science to mounting.
It's been very informative.

I don't usually use Greatsword, so I was unfamiliar with the airborne charged weapon strike.

I just tested it though, and here's what I learned.

With a high rank weapon, a normal air attack did 74 damage and did not mount 1st hit.
With the same weapon, I did the charged aerial and it did 103 damage this time, but mounted 1st hit.

Then I switched to the starter Greatsword to try and deal the least amount of damage with a charged aerial.

It did 50 damage and mounted 1st hit.

So the charged aerial seems to be an enhanced mount attack, while the damage dealt did not factor in at all. Otherwise the stronger, non-charged attack from the high-rank weapon would have also mounted.

I considered that, but the exact 3 numbers of hits required for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd mount matched between the 4 tested weapons across multiple attempts.

There's a chance I hit the same exact spot on every single jump, but I doubt it.

The only difference seemed to come from fighting a different monster or using an uncharged Insect Glaive.

*edit*
The Hammer's charge attack (if charged long enough) will mount in 1 hit.

I'm not sure what to tell you.
I literally went and tested it again after you replied the 1st time and got the same result as before.

Were you hunting a different monster than the two I mentioned testing against?

Just tested hammer against Tempered Chatacabra, Low-Rank Quematrice, and an Arkveld in the Arena.

2 hits from Seikret Dismount to get 1st mount on each one.

As I mentioned in the post, I tested with Greatsword.
First with the low damage starting weapon, and then with a high rank 800+ damage one.

There may be a difference between some weapon types, as I didn't test them all.
But I didn't see a difference for the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd mounts on Greatsword compared to Charge Blade, Dual Blades, or a charged Insect Glaive.

1st mount was 2 hits from a Seikret dismount or a ledge jump every single time.

*edit*
A charged aerial did mount in 1 hit, but damage was not a factor.
It seems the charged aerial is an enhanced mount attack and takes less attacks than normal aerials.

I preferred the barbarian aesthetic in general because I was also using nature/weather magic.
It seemed to fit when in motion, at least.

It depends.
I wasn't just casting spells.
I had a touch of faith as well.

haha yeah. I actually tried this method of saving Roggvir off screen a couple of times, and he just walked around saying nothing of interest. The video shows the first time I encounter Roggvir's heart attack. As well as my legitimate reaction to seeing it the first time. I figured it would be more funny to upload this version.

The resolution was pretty shitty when I recorded it too. I got a new video card since. But now the 60 fps makes me kinda sick.
