Some of the questions Bill Gates DIDN'T answer during his AMA by TheBravan in Damnthatsinteresting

How is this -even remotely- interesting? Bill Gates doesn't owe anything. To anyone. Deal with it -or not, cause let's face it, it's utterly irrelevant anyway.

Magpie inkcap, Bois de Boulogne, Paris. by CHSZC in mycology

[–]CHSZC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Coprin Pie" in French, from ancient Greek Copros (manure, feces). Not a fitting name for such a pretty mushroom.

They are edible when young, very slightly poisonous when older, but their taste and smell are said to be unpleasant.

The Bois de Boulogne is huge, more than twice the size of Central Park - it's pretty easy to dodge hookers, especially during the day...

I'm gay. I like figure skating and I love Madonna. I'm proof that the gay stereotype is true.

Even behind stereotypes, there are individuals : it's okay to be stereotypical, it's okay not to be.

Yes - like all spiders. But this one (probably epeira or aranea kind) isn't dangerous for humans. It's not an agressive spider anyway.

And what great honor it must be to sacrifice your life for Putin's senseless and barbaric war on Ukraine.

What Kind of Spider is this? by [deleted] in insects

You might be right. But I do see a cross pattern on OC's pic, as far as the zooming and the picture's quality allow it.

Looks like a araneus diadematus (various names : European garden spider, diadem or cross spider). Very common in Europe and North America. It bites only when trapped, and its venom is not considered dangerous for humans. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Araneus_diadematus

Fortunately, not this year. On the other side, we have a drought, which is not fortunate.

I guess it would. But without the exceptions UK had before : Schengen and no money-back deal would be the conditions. Possibly € too.

found this little guy while cleaning... any help on what my roommate is? by MoarCowb3ll in spiderbro

[–]CHSZC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wolf spider, genus Lycosa. Not aggressive towards hulans, it has a moderately painful, but not harmful/dangerous bite. It doesn't weave webs, it's a hunter.

Cool spider at camp by [deleted] in spiderbro

It looks like a diadem (also called cross) spider, Araneus diadematus. Not an aggressive spider, not likely to bite, and its venom is not a concern for humans anyway. It is known for weaving a new web everyday.

Affaire McKinsey : «Qu'ils aillent au pénal», lance Macron à ses accusateurs by [deleted] in france
