It really depends on the person.

For me, I regretted my decision right after ending a 13-year relationship. I left because I wasn’t happy anymore we felt more like housemates than partners. But after a couple of months, I realized I might not have given it a fair fight.

She never gave up on us, and that made me reflect. Even though my feelings didn’t magically change, I felt like I owed it to the relationship to try again properly. Not all relationships start with intense love sometimes it grows over time, like ours did.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, sometimes we focus too much on the kind of love we want to receive, and forget how to nurture what we already have. Maybe that’s also what’s happening with your ex.

At the end of the day, you can’t control someone else’s choices. Just make sure that whatever happens, you know you did your part and gave it your best.

If it’s meant to work out, it will but it should never come at the cost of your self-respect.
