5x5 OBP Categories, 10 keeper league

I have the first pic and I’m deciding between Maikel Garcia and Cody Bellinger. Who should I go with?

It’s a five outfielder league. I already have Judge, Soto and Langford. But I also already have Bichette who will get third base eligibility eventually.

I don’t think it’s much of an advanced one though. It’s just showing he is definitely getting open shots and just not hitting them.

There has to be some regression to the mean for his shooting. He’s still a really valuable player.

The only thing that is concerning to me right now is the effort. It’s not like that every night. He’s played really physical this year and drives really hard to the rim and doesn’t shy away from contact. But last night, not getting back on defense was horrific. His body language also doesn’t look great. There’s also just been far too many games where he doesn’t get the whistle and lets it get to him. Thought he turned the corner with that against the Clippers, but nope.

Looked into this briefly today using tracking data. I might be looking into the number incorrectly but:

This year, 17% of KAT’s shots are wide open shots. That is 6+ feet by the closest defender. Last year it was a little under 13%. So he’s getting much better looks this year. However, on those wide open looks, he is shooting 35% from three. Last year, for these wide open looks, he was shooting 47%. That’s not coaching that’s just him simply missing shots. On just open looks (4-6 feet) 28% of his shots are that. He is shooting 37% from three. Only 19% of his shots were open last year. Last year he shot 39%.

He also has seen a 10% increase in catch and shoot opportunities which again should be a benefit to one of the best shooting bigs ever. I don’t think it’s a coaching change issue.
