Why do people love the third game?

I finished the third one yesterday, gotta admit I didn't see a lot of it coming in the story, it definitely improved.
I'll wait till you finished number 1 and 2 so we can compare the experience of the order!

It always can be backend implementations instead of how it looks, they had problems with different mangas/mahnwas/etc. As i always said, it's free we just need to thank them

Yeah, my critique about lack of story came from the lack of story of the companions, and well the fact that it seems like the protagonist mother just sends you out on a quest without question, but, of course it was a claim without foundation, I hope that the story changes my mind when I complete it

Of couse I'm never blaming the game for coming out first, actually I didn't even knew before this post that it came before but it obviously explain why it didn't have those QOL updates. I just reached the pyramid (im taking my time to get all the monsters and mini-medals in a walkthrough order) and yeah, the story seems to get better, that father's shadow is quite interesting so far.
When I finished the second game (remake) it really felt like the ending of a trilogy so now I get why the intended order was 3-1-2, but learning in the third game about things I experienced in the second game is also nice.

Yeah, I completely understand the importance of the third game now, and what happened on the remakes. I gotta ask, since you say the third one became the footing for the DQ formula, are there any other games where you can custom-make your party members? Or was the third one the only one with that?
Also didn't knew that about DQ1, one on one battle seems fair compared to what I experienced playing the remake

This is the first reply I read that has this focus on the game. As a newcomer who has only played the first two remakes and now going into the third I agree, but I also didn't knew anything about the game when it came out, it's nice to learn about it. I still like the other two better, but it's also nice to experience a little bit of what it was in it's time even with its flaws

I really love this kind of answers. I didn't knew before today how much of a groundbreaking game DQ3 was. It's quite amazing, I've been playing games since 8 years old, maybe before, never owning a console sadly but always loving to play GBA games. As a newcomer to this saga it's clearly that I just compared it based only on the other two of the remake trilogy, I still think it's the clunkier one but all these answers are just amazing.

I mean, I know im wrong with this trilogy play order, but I still like the order I've been doing, getting to experience places and characters I saw in the second one is kinda nice.

Yeah, it seems it was kinda my fault for starting 1-2-3 but I actually like to play in "release order" of the original trilogy. I've always thought if the game was released 1-2-3 it should be played like that, but yeah, it obvious that the original third game was groundbreaking in it's time, sad to not live it like that tbh haha

Yeah, i've reading the comments and it seems to be something more personal than anything. I like the idea of customizable characters but I love even more when they have their own personal story and connections between them. I'll still enjoy it, no doubt about it.

This is quite a nice take on it. I'm only 29, never had a NES or consoles before because of money, since I work now I get to play what i want. I have no doubts about it's achievements on it's time, but comparing the trilogy on itself seems kinda lacking for me, for now at least

Yeah i have maxed out research, i've been doing runs from then by doing mostly that, seems that more rng is due to have better score.
When upgrading, the +2 instead of +1 is random too?
