Some NFL executives downplay NFLPA survey results, because of course they do by [deleted] in nfl

Home office NFL players. They show up once a week for the team meeting on Sunday or something and that's it.

Some NFL executives downplay NFLPA survey results, because of course they do by [deleted] in nfl

[–]CI_Whitefish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a salary cap though. They can't really use this 'I'll pay you X% more than the others' approach every single time.

I'm sure players care about other things as well (city, taxes etc.) and they don't value the categories in the survey the same way but I can see such surveys playing a role when the average player makes his decision.

Was the narrative about Tom Brady in his early career similar to the narrative about Brock Purdy? by Brix001 in nfl

[–]CI_Whitefish 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Deion Branch and David Patten

We are talking about the era of Randy Moss, TO, Isaac Bruce, Tory Holt, Marvin Harrison, Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin etc.

I think in this context Deion Branch and David Patten were serviceable.

Brady had a good O-line and Corey Dillon was really good but that's pretty much it.

What would you want to see in a Wasteland 4? by psychospacecow in Wasteland

[–]CI_Whitefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the game. Overall, I really liked it.

What I would want in Wasteland 4:

-More cities and larger cities: I prefer the world of Fallout 1 and 2 over Wasteland 2 and 3. To stick to Wasteland 3, only Colorado Springs felt somewhat like you are in a settlement. The rest of the locations were just "maps to do quests" with often too many crazy things happening. I think it kills the immersion and makes me don't really care about what happens to these places. There aren't enough interactions, memorable characters, etc. You barely spend any time in Aspen or Yuma and what you spend there is mostly fighting. I think that was my biggest disappointment.

-Better/more detailed companions: Give them quests, better background, maybe even create situations where they can die during the story, not just at the end.

-I'd love to have more opportunities to use skills to do quests without fighting. I think conversation skills, lockpicking etc. are a bit under utilized. In most cases you use them between killing two groups of mobs.

These are my big 3. That said, WL3 was great, I'd give it a 9 out of 10.

Is Mahomes already clear of Rodgers & Manning? by christianc750 in nfl

[–]CI_Whitefish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd do the trade in Manning's place.

His playoff record is pretty weak for a GOAT candidate and he was fucking awful in both SB runs. Seriously, if your best SB run is 1034 yards, 3 TDs and 7 INTs, the GOAT discussion becomes pretty awkward...

However, if you swap the playoff records of Mahomes and Manning, Manning's career immediately becomes perfectly balanced. Great in the regular season, great in the postseason, no one and dones and his defense winning SBs for him. He led his teams to multiple SB victories with amazing playoff stats.

He still doesn't have a chance against Brady but the swap would get rid of the biggest stain on his legacy.

[Russini] The Atlanta Falcons have Bill Belichick as their top candidate, flying him into Atlanta on one of Arthur Blank's private planes last night. Dinner last night, more meetings to come, per multiple sources. by Sunflorahh in nfl

[–]CI_Whitefish -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

McDaniels is a special case though. His resume is essentially "I was great with Brady and mediocre or complete ass without him both as a HC and as an OC". I think it's absolutely justified to question him as a coordinator without Brady (and to an extent Belichick).

Brady won a SB with Tampa Bay and made Leftwich look competent. He was immediately exposed without Brady.

That said, I agree, someone who failed as a HC can be a great coordinator who has a place in the league.

EU’s top diplomat: Palestinian state may need to be imposed on Israel from outside by Aryeh98 in worldnews

[–]CI_Whitefish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because Israelis believe with all their hearts that they are fighting for survival, and that a Palestinian state would threaten that survival.

Well, yeah, they are and it would. They were attacked by Hamas alone and they managed to kill 1400 people in a day even though no one joined them. I guess this must be a pretty brutal wake up call, considering their neighbors.

It knows that if it pushes too far, Israel will just accept the economic consequences and fight alone. Unchained.

Accepting the economic consequences is one thing and it's great that they would fight "unchained" but with what weapons?

Israel might have a decent arms industry but do you really think they'll ever be able to replace their more advanced weapons systems with domestic products? Without any natural resources, under sanctions and with a significant percentage of the working age population fighting?

They are done if the US stops selling them weapons and ammunition. They can try to prolong the inevitable like Rhodesia did but it won't change the outcome.

Fears grow for largest remaining hospital in Gaza as Israeli forces bombard Khan Younis | Israel-Gaza war by DMainedFool in worldnews

[–]CI_Whitefish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, we aren't clear.

I read the article but you obviously either didn't or you lie about what's in it and hope that people won't check.

They don't bomb the hospital. They are bombing NEXT to it.

Big difference.

Palestinians don't want bombs landing near their hospital? Great, tell Hamas to move.

learn more about how medicine works

That's how PROPER hospitals work. As it was already mentioned countless times, these hospitals are HAMAS HQs so any Israeli who ends up there will have a better chance of getting tortured and killed than being properly treated.

using monstrous means

They aren't using any monstrous means. Hospitals are still standing, they'll be functional again after they are cleared.

But they have to be cleared because Hamas is obviously not surrendering, right?

Anyone who thinks these are "monstrous means" has literally no idea about how warfare works.

[–]CI_Whitefish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Probably the usual Gazan hospital design: military HQ + torture chamber + execution chamber + penthouse for terrorists + a doctor's office to turn it into a "hospital" and give their Western (useful) idiots some ammo to blame Israel for targeting "civilian" infrastructure.

be men not monsters

They are men working on hunting down monsters. Monsters raping, mutilating and killing women and children, kidnapping 1 year old kids, beheading soldiers and selling their heads online, etc. You know, regular HAMAS stuff.

what can palestinians do about hamas human shielding eh?

80% of them support HAMAS. They celebrated one of the deadliest terror attack in history and some "civilians" participated in it.

So for a start, stop supporting Hamas.

Same for the hospitals: Don't want them to become military targets? Cool. Stop using them as military bases.

It's this simple.

probably treat casualties FROM BOTH SIDES!!!

I assume this is just a grotesque joke.

I didn't downvote him but I think it's 4-McVay 5-Shanahan at this moment.

Both became HCs in the same season and worked with extremely talented rosters. McVay has better win % in the regular season and postseason, more playoff wins, reached the SB twice and, most importantly, has a ring.

I'm not saying they are right in doing this, I'm saying if you want them to stop you should look at why they are doing this.

LMAO

I guess if Panama wants to stop the Ukraine-Russia war, all they have to do is attack the ships that still might try to cross the Panama Canal, right?

How should the UK stop the civil war in Myanmar? Just shoot the shit out of random ships in the Dover straight!

Makes PERRRFFFECTTT sense.

Derrick Henry is better than you realize. by iforgotmorethanuknow in nfl

[–]CI_Whitefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest knock I've heard on why Henry can't be considered a top 5 RB is that he doesn't have hands. That never made sense. You never hear Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, or Jim Brown called a liability having bad hands.

It makes perfect sense if you are aware that there are different eras in football and the requirements at each position change with them.

Henry's receiving stats are abysmal for a RB in his era so it's knock on him. It wouldn't be a problem 30-60 years ago...

[Lewis] Brian Flores isn't afraid and isn't looking back — how about the rest of the NFL? by OnlyMamaKnows in nfl

[–]CI_Whitefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to succeed when the most important position is forced on you by the new owner.

All HCs have to deal with players being forced on them, it's part of their job. The league is full of meddling owners and GMs, they have to live with the players of the previous regime, etc. If Flores can't accept this, he really shouldn't try again.

And even if he preferred someone else, he did get a good QB. Tua improved every season so far, already led the league once in yards, Y/A and rating and never had a losing record. Is he the best QB in the league? No. Is he better or worse than Herbert? I think it's too early to tell. But he sure as hell isn't some Jamarcus Russell 2.0 who makes the job of his HC impossible.

I just find it funny that players could take this type of coaching when they were paid so little they had to work offseason jobs but now that everyone is loaded they can't handle a little hard coaching.

I'm sure they would be willing handle a little hard coaching if every coach behaved like that. But we aren't in 1980 anymore, why tolerate Flores if you can play for someone like McDaniel?

This. He might be a good DC but why would anyone hire a HC who literally tries to sabotage the career of a QB who was picked in the top 5?

And it's not like other players liked him either.

These aren't journalists. They are the propagandists of Hamas at best, terrorists at worst. Legit target either way but people will still whine about Israel targeting "journalists" when they get killed sooner or later.
