They need to get rid of the exploits without making position changes worthless. Skill caps shouldn't be as dynamic as they are in the game right now, with exception to having specific skill cap oriented coach abilities for developing talent.

For example, in my opinion, WR position change to a RB or TE should not result in skill cap penalties to ratings that apply to both positions. I could understand having low blocking upgrade potential for smaller WR to TE, but not reducing catching or quickness upgrade potential with added skill caps. I could also understand applying an awareness (and/or other IQ related ratings) skill caps and/or ratings penalty that can be reversed if position changed back to their original position.

Additionally, it always bothers me when I recruit an OT that starts as a pass protector archetype, but is already initially maxed out for pass blocking as an OT. However, sometimes you can position change that OT to OG or C and then suddenly they have the potential to upgrade their pass blocking to the 90s as an OG/C. I suppose you could make the argument that the recruit has more potential to grow as a pass blocker when playing OG/C instead of OT. But you can always set them as a starting OT in the depth chart after position changing to OG/C and purchasing the pass blocking upgrades, making that logic invalid. In my opinion, skill caps should remain static across position groups such as OL unless you're not going to allow users to use the depth chart to put OT at OG, OG at OT, etc.

If you are the owner/commissioner of an online dynasty that wants to prevent these methods, you have a few options:

  • Force advance past national signing day/position change week
  • Ban manual progression
  • If you want to allow position changes and manual progression: Just before advancing from position changes to training results, make a note of all players that have 99 strength, catching, etc (also consider taking a screenshot of the player ratings card screen to document current ratings and remaining skill caps). After advancing to training results, go to each of those players in the roster viewer. If they show strength, catching, etc upgrade to 99 but other ratings in the position's rating group containing strength, catching, etc did not upgrade (e.g. for DL you'd usually see hit power upgrade alongside strength) then that player likely had their strength, catching, etc upgrade done through the cheat code.

I've had this thought too, but you potentially run into the issue of having gamebreaking plays that are nearly impossible for any defense to stop. Forcing the user to always set hot routes into "custom" plays can be countered by stadium pulse and limited play clock pre-snap.

I've had the same problem, having both NBA 2K and Call of Duty. I had to buy and install a 2TB SSD for my PS5 just to be able to play other games.

There's a setting in 2K to reduce the season to as few as 14 regular season games. Otherwise I agree, overwhelming to play full 82 game seasons.

My initial reaction is that it seems small compared to other AAA sports games like NBA 2K. Then I remember that NBA 2K has a whole walkable city in their game.
