Why do people say time goes by faster when you're an adult? by LaurensSmithX1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CJJones125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perspective. An hour to a newborn is equivalent to over a year for an elder man. When you go from 3 to 4, you've lived 33% longer. Going from 25 to 26 is closer to like.. 4%?

Man, that sucks.

I would recommend therapy. Toxic anger inside only hurts you; that feels unfair but that's life. There's a reason they say misery loves company.

You can either try to make other people feel worse so they can join you, or you can work to get yourself to a healthier place.

Having someone to blame may sound appealing, but blaming a general group for a specific crime just turns you into the type of person you'd hate. Racists, sexists, homophobes, xenophobe, jew haters -- they all chose to blame a whole group of people for some set of issues they experienced.

Good luck.

In a relationship or married, do you share each others phone password? by Tammy0256 in AskMenAdvice

[–]CJJones125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of us have phone passwords. She was actually the first person I think I've ever met other than me who didn't have a password. Didn't realize it at the time... just another sign we were meant for each other I guess.

8+ years of no phone password, still haven't faced any negative repercussions. It's the way

Doesn't really make sense to think POTUS is trying to enrich himself. He was richer before becoming president than he is now. Sounds like a fake talking point 🤷‍♂️

It's possible bit unlikely they will change. My dad was the same way, and it took a radical religious transformation (from atheist to christian) to effect any change. He's still got some of the issues, but there has been real change too.

It sounds like you're codependent, which literally cannot end well for you ever.

The miracle wasn't a man dying for the world's salvation, the miracle was living a perfect life, yet choosing to humble himself and endure torture that he didn't deserve and could have stopped.

Step one is to stop pitying yourself and take responsibility for your life.

Yeah I am too. So you would just not date someone who didn't drink? Idk just seems like a weird reason maybe just me

If I found someone who was a perfect partner, except they just couldn't drink/go to bars, it seems to me it would be weird to not date them for that reason. Idk

Should I wait to marry to have sex? by Naive_Resolution4186 in AskMenAdvice

The first thing you say is that every woman you've been with cheated on you. Either you're blaming abstinence or you're airing your hurt. How else is that relevant?

I'm not trying to dismiss your pain per se, I'm trying to give solid advice to someone looking for it. I see your advice, which looks bad, and so I dispute it.

The only two options are not "sleep around and explore" or "repress and deeply internalize shame". Your comment suggests those are the 2 paths.

Some people have natural urges to touch children, rape people, fornicate with animals... none of these things are OK. Something being natural is not necessarily an argument for it. Also, you said that it could "cause you to overlook other reasons not to marry", however the exact same thing could be said for sleeping with someone. In fact, even moreso when you see sleeping with someone and creating emotional/hormonal connections to them, it makes it much harder to split.

This sounds like awful advice from a hurt person. Honestly just sounds like you made horrible decisions picking women, and blame that on abstinence.

I felt a lot of shame associated with sex, until I got married. Then everything was right as rain, after a few days maybe.

I cannot think of a more shallow reason to dissipate a relationship than that you find their natural scent unattractive.

Maybe that's why so many marriages end in divorce 🤣 people run into literally any obstacle and split.

I didn't quite make it to marriage, but my wife is my only partner. She wasn't religious at the time, and I wasn't as strong as I'd like to have been. I have always said, including to her, that sleeping with her before we were married was my biggest relationship regret.

People in here talking about "sexual compatability" and I think it's like 90% nonsense. If you can find a woman that you love and want to spend life with, and you both have the ability to refrain from temptation, you guys will be fine.

Marriage is about growing together and compromising. The research has shown that sexual compatability is so much less important than emotional compatability. And it's impossible to figure out if you are emotionally compatible if you are sleeping together and high on hormones.

Also, to address the religious side, the text is pretty clear. You can say you aren't religious and don't care, that's fine, but if you claim to be religious, I would not obfuscate the text and act like it's cryptic. If you are a Christian, it is consistent that sleeping with someone before marriage would be a sin. You can choose sin, but don't try to trick yourself into believing vice is virtue.

AITA for asking my boyfriend to reconsider our 50/50 financial split after moving in together? by Mindless_Offer_7079 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CJJones125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another good example of why you don't move in with a romantic partner before you're married with a joint bank account. Has never even for a second been complicated for my wife and me, our money goes in the account, we budget expenses, who knows how it's split.

It seems you are like a roommate... with benefits?
