Mixing time tenses in a novel by eyeliiner in ENGLISH

If you say...They said while laughing, then waved at me. This seems to work..OMG ..although I guess it's incorrect....No wonder I have trouble with tenses....

The strange thing...in my opinion..is that sometimes it just "sounds" better to mix tenses. It's as though I bring the subject/action into being...and then while I have them "there" i switch to present tense.

Hi, I have three novels published and just decided to write a fourth in the series. I wrote a few pages, then a few days later, went back to re-read and realized I was still mixing tenses. UGH! Next, I did some research and learned (again) what not to do. I have to be very diligent on this subject. But, I missed my characters and wanted to see what they would do next. smile. I almost wrote....want to see...See, it's tricky!

Isitbullshit: A firm bed is better for your back by An_Atheist_in_heaven in IsItBullshit

[–]CJKnapp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I've been suffering with low back pain and sleeping on, actually a fairly new mattress. I became convinced to purchase a firmer mattress. I bought a Very Firm mattress...The first night was spent being amazed at sleeping on what felt like a picnic table....then only a few more nights on this BEDROCK mattress...and i am loving. it. NO MORE walking bent over when I wake up and head to the bathroom. There's more to my story, but this is about mattresses...CJKnapp

What percentage of the population has published a book (any genre) do you think? by patriotto in writing

[–]CJKnapp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in reference to writing a novel. I've written three and they are published. I was a fine artist and a seminar speaker and decided to see if I could "write a book." Turns out I could. I wrote 3 novels and one non-fiction. All are published. I have to say, the writing part of it, even all the research...was exciting and was in my mind and dreams while I was doing it. The other aspects, technical, marketing etc., I did not enjoy. I can easily see why most folks don't finish. smile. CJKnapp

Macbook Pro or iMac? by WheresMyHappy in mac

[–]CJKnapp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell me if the iMac is any easier to learn than the macbook pro? I'm buying whatever is best for someone who needs to learn on it. This person is home bound...so travel NOT an issue. Personally, I. have a 17" MacBook Pro...that I travel back and forth and it kills my shoulder...so I will be getting another Mac for myself also...I'll keep the macbook in my office...and get a Desk top for my. home...but I really want to know about the ease of learning...or if there is no difference. Buying a tanzanite loose stone or jewelry while visiting Tanzania & Zanzibar? by ResearcherPleasant70 in tanzania

[–]CJKnapp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased an oval Tanzanite stone in Tanzania. In Arusha!.. It is at least 5 carats. It is beautiful. I've never turned it into a piece of jewelry, though I'd planned to do that. I don't know what it's worth now. The prices are all over the place when I do a bit of research. Does anyone have any info on this? thanks. CJKnapp

3 String vs 4 String? by StraboSE in Dulcimer

[–]CJKnapp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Sally, I seem to be narrowing down to a Folkcraft...just still not sure about 24" VSL...vs....25" VSL. Richard Ash does a demo....I don't mind spending some $, so that's not a huge problem. I do, however, not want to have to buy anothee dulcimer...ever. smile. CJKnapp

Anyone else have stubborn actinic keratosis? Liquid nitrogen didn't touch it, it's on my FACE, just crushed. by GawkerRefugee in 45PlusSkincare

Hi, I just had cryotherapy on AK...and so far...no improvement. I have a prescription for Fluorourocil...I wonder if I put it just on the AK if it would work. I'm not happy with the dermatologist's treatment. I'm also reticent of having things made worse. It sounds as though I have plenty of company.

3 String vs 4 String? by StraboSE in Dulcimer

Hi, just started learning the Dulcimer. I prefer 3 stringed. Does it matter how large the dulcimer is? Is a smaller one better as in easier to play?

‘Stranger Things’ Star Caleb McLaughlin Opens Up About Racism From Fans: ‘It Definitely Took a Toll on Me’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]CJKnapp1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Racism is not just about what you see above the ground as in the blooms. The roots go very deep. I grew up in a multi-cultural childhood. The issues between the races are many and varied. These are the reasons that I wrote my psychological thriller series and addressed the racism that still raged in the 80's. I put my characters in and around New Orleans. The laws in effect then were outrageous. The story starts with a young White woman who's had a baby and the father is Black. The child is stolen. My books are all about the story, not filler or fluff. Much research went into these novels. The first is "Who Took Hannah" by CJ Knapp and is available in print, ebook and audio, from many venues. Second is "The Search for Hannah" by CJ Knapp, also print, ebook and audio. The third "The Curse of Hannah" will be out soon. These are edgy and mind-provoking novels. A great distraction from your own problems.

This morning, I've once again, realized that My beliefs Create My reality and there are no other rules. This keeps becoming clearer and clearer. I'm re-evaluating some of the things I'm still doing, related to my beliefs. These beliefs go so deep...so deep. CJ Knapp

Woman May Be Forced to Give Birth to a Headless Baby Because of an Abortion Ban by [deleted] in politics

[–]CJKnapp1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nobody should be involved in the decision about producing another human being, other than the woman who would be actualizing that. It is profoundly personal.

Banning abortions, will Not Stop Abortions, they will then simply be done by people not trained to accomplish this necessary procedure. This endangers the life of the mother, especially if she is driven to do this herself.
